Agree. If it was say a World Cup swansong then maybe, but we should be looking down the line now

No, but I was on the 1992.

Might be unfashionable but I think Matty Ashurst has been really unlucky to be uncapped in recent seasons.
I agree, he's been Wakefield's player of the year a few times, I think he might be out for the season at present though. Would have been a good servant at Saints and better than some of the imports we've had

Not blowing my own trumpet or anything but there's a post on this forum from about 10 years or go (might be longer) where I picked out Ashurst as one with potential after seeing him in an academy GF

The squad needs to be reduced to 25 and still has the NRL contingent to be added.

I expect S. Burgess, Graham, T. Burgess, Bateman, Whitehead, Widdop and potentially Eaun Aitken to come in. That would mean 11 drop out.

    For me;

Shaul, Ward, Handley, Jones, Lyne, Philbin, Tomkins, Trueman, Taylor, O’Loughlin and Charnley to drop out. Austin/Coote could drop out too dependant on injury.

Josh Hodgson will almost certainly be in the squad, he was Bennetts first choice hooker when available.

Yes he will, forgot about him.
That may mean Roby/Clarke drop out.

I'd prefer Roby to retire from international rugby.

I agree, although generally performing to a high level by the leagues standards he is starting to show some signs of age.

I actually think next year will be his last to all intents and purposes. I know he has two years left after this but I think his last year might be more of a case of using him sparingly like we did with Wellens who did more coaching than playing

Had to abandon their base in NZ due to a fire.

    Good excuse if we lose.

Looks like Coote and Thompson will be starting on Saturday with Walmsley and Lomax on the bench.

    I've heard the team is:

Coote, McGilvray, Hardaker, Gildart, Hall, Widdop, Hastings, Hill, Hodgson, Thompson, Bateman, Whitehead, Graham.
Subs: Lomax, Walmsley, Jones, T. Burgess.

Lomax is very unlucky to not be starting at 6 after the season he's had. Widdop has done nothing all season in the NRL (I know he's been injured)

Indeed. Looks like Percival won't ever be given a chance again either.

Percival is injured and was ruled out of the International games.

2,3 and 4 look weak as international 3/4s. I don't know where Ryan Hall is up to nowadays, he was obviously international class in his day, but not heard much since he moved to Aus.

At least McGilvary and Gildart play those positions for their clubs, they may not be international class, but at least know the position, Hardaker is a full back and based on last season a pretty average one, he is playing a position he has played a handful of times at best. Ryan Halls record speaks for itself, unless he has dropped off a cliff in terms of performance i dont mind him in the team.

Yes but he's played in the NRL so is quite clearly better that Lomax, even after being injured all season, not being that good to start with, being binned by his club and picked up by some mickey mouse team in an inferior competition.

I know most don't agree with this but I don't want any Saints players there, either getting hurt or putting themselves in the shop window.

He looked about 25 stone last time I seen him.
