Where is Ben Will from? How old is he? I've never heard of him.

These sort of blow out scores do nothing for the game, the teams or coaching staff.
I was at Wigan v Newcastle academy yesterday and Wigan won comfortably to nil. It must have been disheartening for the young Newcastle team, somehow there needs to be a rethink at this level, maybe two or three divisions I'm not sure?
    Any thoughts?

Are there enough academy teams to do this? Or would it end up playing the same sides against each other 4 times to make up the fixtures?
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

They did try to form elite academies but then teams like Castleford got upset when they didn't get one.

I guess with the likes of London and Newcastle it is a bit chicken and egg. You need the competition to become good but you need to become good to be competitive. If you get my point.

In the short to medium term it doesn't help anyone to get scores like this.

I have been suggesting an American style collegian system where academies are associated with Universities and get scholarships to play etc. If this was the way things worked you would find that a lot of players would move up to Newcastle to strengthen their team.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

London this weekend fielded 11 first teasers that had come through their own academy, so obviously over time it is working for them

I believe he is a half back but has been on the wing for our academy as there are some good players in the spine of our academy.

I think it is overall quality. The general standard of London Academy players is lower than the heartland clubs. They do have good lads that come through, they just lack the backup.

Will Roberts doesnt look bad but my understanding it was Robertson and Whitby that the club was banking on being future stars. They are newly promoted from the Scolars while Will Roberts was academy scrum half last year.

That is my understanding, unless anyone wants to correct me?

Seem him on a couple of video clips he did look a better propsect than Moss, think Rogues has mentioned him in despatches. We also have Robertson developing at a fair rate of knots. Don't know anything about Ben Will.

Very promising to have 3 or 4 young ones on the conveyor belt towards the future first team.

Whitby looked like he could play Super League at 15, his speed of thought and the quality of his execution was that good. It'll be interesting to see what he's like now if he does come through. Where is Robertson playing these days? Fullback, six or centre?

I don't disagree...however how many clubs are fielding 11 home grown players and another from outside the heartlands that went via a different pathway (universities then york)? That side comfortably beat Whitehaven this weekend too. You learn by playing better standard of players and games. May be a few tonkings, but those guys need to play at that level

Yeah, he's supposed to be real prospect. A number of clubs were chasing him.

Just with you saying 'Roberts', and according to the Saints site, there's two Robertses in the Academy squad.

And there aren't many beyond. Certainly London are unique on that front in the championship too.

The way the RFL have let down London and south is a whole different conversation though

Harry Robertson is reported to be the new Jack Welsby. If that is at all possible.

There is another good prospect in Jonathon Vaugnan similar build to Robertson, Vaughan plays right centre and wears a red skull cap. Robertson plays full back wears a white skull cap and links up a lot with Vaughan on the right edge.

If we fast forward to 2025 the likes of Delaney, McKensie-Buckley, Robertson, Will, Roberts, Vaughan might be challenging to be in the first team squad.

Wasnt Roberts the guy who pretty much every SL club offered a contract to but he only ever wanted to play for Saints? Or was that Whitby?
