Thanks for that, I hadn't seen it, I also have just been reading that the Chief Executive of Rugby Union says that they are "open" to the concept of Rugby becoming a Summer sport, how original! together with their version of the 40 / 20 rule being trialled, is there anything that they've not stolen from Rugby League

    The Sky commentary team unfortunately.

They'd probably send us Stuart Barnes in return

Not sure it was on this thread or another, but I mentioned that this could be a smart move for them and a bad one for us. Most people that follow RU watch the internationals, so for the club season to be bookended by the Six Nations before and the Autumn Tests or World Cup at the end makes sense. It prevents clubs playing when internationals are on, and would allow RU to exist for stretches of the year when football isn't played. It makes perfect sense for them, but could be bad for us because they would diminish what little coverage we get even further over the summer months, and could make Sky think twice about us being the sport they use to fill the schedules in May-August.

Next year clubs are looking at a short fall of around 140 grand per club and they say theve heard of a number of high profile players who are out of contract this year who have been offered significantly reduced new contracts by clubs
Hence the drive to reduce the salary cap, so that the dregs can continue to drag the rest down to their level.

I heard the RL were looking at neutral grounds when the game returns at least to start with

Probably because some grounds don't have enough room to swing a cat at the best of times so they'll probably want to play games at grounds that have indoor plumbing and enough room for players to change at a reasonable distance.

I imagine those that groundshare will see their games moved. I can’t see RL having priority over Championship Football in Wigan, Hull and Huddersfield’s case.

At Wakefield, could they not be allocated a portacabin each to get changed in?

It would be rather amusing if they had to play at our place.

I doubt they meet the H&S requirements.

And for them to lose there would be the icing on the cake.

I assume the Pies may go to Leigh, and potentially never leave there, Latics may use it as an opportunity to get rid of them for good so they stop destroying their pitch.

Yesterday's statement talked about choosing the venues based on suitability for dealing with the practicalities and specifically said not on geography.
The Wigan newspaper mentioned Headingly & the HJ as possibles.
I suspect they will end up with three "neutral"grounds (as opposed to the NRL).
The third will be nearer to St Helens than the pies like!

Most likely. I doubt the Latics will turf them out, at least they pay rent.

3 proposals currently being discussed. One ends in November, 2nd ends in December, 3rd ends in January.
Scrums now to be scrapped for the remainder of the season (whenever it starts) presumably play will just restart with a handover, but it might lead to some innovations with so many forwards ready to go instead of having a breather in the pack

They could abseil onto the pitch to avoid having to social-distance in the tunnel.

Wouldn't be sorry to see the end of scrums altogether to be honest.

    Agree 100 % , scrums are a joke , a handover would be better .
