There’s been a few changes around the rules of the game that he’s been behind that have been positive but he’s not had the overall impact required, so he should be sacked. I reckon he’s jumped before he was pushed.

Didn't Saints and Leeds put forward a vote of no confidence in him recently, possibly the TV deal looks like might be taken out of his hands and be negotiated by the club's themselves in future after the club's have all taken a hit of nearly three hundred thousand each on the last deal, either way hardly looks like a competent way to do business

There's plenty of candidates. Paul Cullen, Martin Offiah, Johnny Wellies, Diane Abbott can all expect interviews.

Flapped his gums alot but never seemed to have any substance to what he was saying.

The next person to be appointed will have to come in and rip into the game.

Everything, top to bottom , get a grip of this sport and push it to its best abilities.

I'm not expecting RU or Football levels but a clear distance from lurching from one crisis to another and the yearly rules changes to a professional outfit that can be showcased for the betterment of the game, the players and the fans.

Completely agree, the post does appear to be a poisoned chalice, all the clubs having their own vested interest, Richard Lewis always appeared to be a fish out of water but looking back his tenure was a calm measured approach, perhaps it needs someone like that again, someone with no connection to any of the clubs, I've no doubt all the chairmen will be trying to get their placement in, by the way from Dave's list I'd go for Johnny Wellies

The comparison of RL with Everton is actually not a bad one, both have a loyal set of fans who can moan for England, both dwel on glories from many decades ago, both have an over inflated sense of the importance of their club/game, so in reality Elstone had a similar job and failed at both.

If anything it adds gravitas to the letter (id’d brand it as something more grandiose than a ‘letter’ but cant think of anything off the back of too much claret).

We simply cant return to a beer and sandwiches and some sort of shitty Labour club way of running the sport. The days of Wood and Rimmer need to be put to bed. A clear strategy to grow the sport off the back of meritocracy and accountability needs to be ushered into the sport.

Diane Abbot would turn the £30m TV deal into £300m

Actually we are mussing a trick. We should be sponsored by BLM in association with Sky sports. After all the great unwashed need to understand America’s problems are our problems and we are all inherently bad and need to be told how to think. Abbott could be an absolute game changer. Only problem is the £300m would likely be a cheque for 300m Lira.

When Elstone was announced I was quite happy, mainly because I had never heard of him and he was coming from a much more professionally managed sport. Once he was in position he was the master of sound bites. I have never known an executive that comes across as such a lightweight as he does. There is never any substance nor depth to any of his interviews. Some of his decisions on the structure and changes in the game have have been a farce. Although the owners must bear some responsibility for that, Elstone doesn't appear to have provided much in the way of leadership. I don't know where we go from here but I hope we get someone with a better understanding of the game and with the ability to understand and connect with fans.
