Wigan fans are exploding over social media re Hastings.
If anything it’s just going to push him even more against joining.

Sit back and laugh lads, the shambles coming out of the club continue.

They miss Shaun Wane that is for sure. The new soccer club owners are a more challenging fit as well. It could be LSV next rental accommodation.

There was obviously something Wane didn’t like. They’re certainly missing him. Someone there needs to get a grip on things.

Not gonna lie it’d be funny as if he doesn’t join Wigan. You’d think if it was all just a baseless rumour Hastings would take 30 seconds out of his day to shut it down with a tweet. Based on his general character on and off the field plus his great performances as well he seems like exactly the sort of player Holbrook would want to bring in at Gold Coast. Be even funnier if Holbrook is the one who causes him not to play for Wigan!
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

    Yup. But after a year.

All joking aside, he should do the year and then ask for a release if the nrl come knocking. Perhaps he's worried that he won't hit the heights of last season performance wise, a club has expressed an interest now & he wants to jump ship in case the opportunity passes him by

    Couldn't have happened to a 'nicer' team ; ).

I respect loyalty and sticking to agreements. I don't agree with players doing this (if it's true - it may well not be despite the rumblings?!) but it's not as if it hasn't happened before.

Not so long ago we had our own scenario with Benny Barba... and whilst we got a spectacular half season out of him - his dip in form and the saga about his return to the NRL contributed to derailing our season. I don't remember our local rivals going easy on us at the time.

Had'nt considered that but that would be funny. Especially the likely aftermath in Wigan:
    Bilko crying in his pint,
RG on here to assure us it doesn't matter; there's some 16 year old from Platt Wazz whose going to be the next Brett Kenny,
BazDev on a ••••ed rant at midnight

How would that differ to most days for them?

I think our scenario was worse, we paid him when he was banned and the paid him for a full season when he only turned up for half of it. Wigan may come out of this with a financial gain. Unless he had not actually signed. If he did go to Gold Coast that would just be the icing on the cake.

Didn't the Cowboys (NQ not Wigan....) pay to buy out the last year of Benny's contract?

I've got it in my head that we very much did get compensation paid to us.

    From the club release 25/09/2018:

“It’s sad to see Benny depart to North Queensland Cowboys in the NRL next season,” Saints Chairman Eamonn McManus said. “We have respected his wishes and have obtained an acceptable transfer fee. We will also be announcing a new signing from the NRL shortly.”

Funny how things turn out. We got a fee and Coote from them, they got.... well... shafted by their new star fullback

That’s OK. I realised that you’d missed the post. With hindsight that was a good bit of business.
