    Default Time keepers

Yet again a time keeper could have had an influence in the result of a game. First at Shudd at the end of the first half, then today the hooter went to signal the end of the match with 12 seconds left on the clock. Clutching a straws I know but we were in possession and could have scored. Independant time keepers I think next year

i thought this, today for the end of the half and 2nd half, the hooter went as the tackle was completed, then the ref blew his whistle simultaeneously [sp], whereas at huddersfield, it was after the play of the ball..

i cant believe that it was coincidence twice today that the hooter went as the tackle was completed

how hard must it be to put a big digital clock at every game, wired up to the official time keeper??

What confused me was at the scrum Wello asked the ref how long left, you could clearly see the ref lift 1 finger, Wello turned round and shouted 1 minute.

next play of the ball the hooter went with 13 seconds still on the club clock, very strange.

However, when i asked the cas fan next to me with 2 minutes 30 on the clock if the clock was tied in with the hooter he said, " I don't know, that hasn't worked for years before today" lol

Rearrange this well-known phrase: "straws you clutching at are"

The problem is we have inconsistency across different grounds, and if the match is televised or not. There needs to be a standard so that each ground has a clock that is linked to the time keepers, showing the official match time. The $ky big-screen can show that time so there's no reason why a clock in each ground cannot. That way there can be no complaints at any ground.

If I remember correctly, there are two timekeepers per match - one associated with each club. The hooter is sounded when they both agree that 40mins has been played (i.e. if one watch hits 40mins and the other is at 39:50 the hooter will not be blown for 10 seconds).

Its bad when we are playing the bottom team and worried about 13 seconds

2 years ago we would have been 40 points up and taking the 4 best players off!!

Don't think anyone is really blaming that or anything, you could see that Wello was very upset over the "early hooter", it did look as though Gardner was told to "take it in" with Saints expecting at leaster another couple of play the balls inside the Cas 30

I was Sts Official timekeeper yesterday.

Myself and a guy from Cas had stop watches and both called time off to each other each time the ref signalled. We had no link to the scoreboard and when we blew the hooter for time at half time I sent a message to the dressing room not to trust the stadium clock.

The reason that the stadium clock was out in the 2nd half was because when the incident with Maurie flared up, the stadium clock stopped immediatly but the ref let matters run before he called time off. My watch was the same as the Cas guy and the hooter was sounded on time.

    Can't argue with that then
