He ran in to a kerfuffle lol from about 20 yards out and laid out the first person he could see. Straight red. So he's not even had anything to do with the main altercation, just ran in and decked some one for no reason, pretty pointless really. He'll get banned and that's all we need - another prop out!

Maybe there was a perfectly good reason for Wellens to "kick off". NObody knows if anything was said, and it could just be Mr St Helens has lost his rag with the crap week on week performances. Everyone has a breaking point. To say its for no reason may be a little unfair on Wellens.

A good fight might be just what is needed. Clear the air so to speak!

Oh aye, were short of forwards as it is so Maurie gets himself sent off.
Running in from 20yds means he'll cop a two match ban.

From where we aere standing it looked like Wello was hit in the head and reacted. He was being held round the face by some cas player - couldn't tell who, and maurie ran in and smacked the bloke who was grappling wello. All about defending his captain but stupid nonetheless!

Didn't think he punched him myself, just kind of shoved him in the face.

    Handbags at dawn.

the thing is Maurie ran 20 metres to join in... and he is a loon im telling you, he reacted exactly the same way Dom Feaunati did against wigan that time..... he carried on trying to fight/push and shove after phil bentham had split it up. In my opinion it deserved a sending off.. it was stupid thing to do, and who knows maybe next time he will think before using his fists!!

I didn't think there was anything in it myself. He ran from a distance, but if my team mate was involved in a scuffle, I'd go over to defend him myself.

I didn't really see who he went for, but I didn't see a mass of punches thrown. If he gets three matches for that then it'll be a disgrace IMO.

Anyone see the incident on SSN then?

I can't believe Maurie got sent off tbh. He threw no punches whatsoever.

I am a big fan of Maurie but today he acted like a brain dead thug. He had no cause whatsoever to get involved. I don't think he actually punched anyone but that's not the point. He should get a big club fine to go with his RFL fine and ban. It now puts us under more pressure forward wise. The last thing we needed was to lose another unnecessarily. Despite the fact the large majority of the team played absymally, without that penalty, we might well have just hung on for a non deserved point.

Does anyone know who he clobbered?? I saw it on SSN and it only looked like he had shoved someone. Doesn't excuse the getting involved in the first place. THink he'll get three weeks.

For what exactly? The games has gone soft if he gets three weeks for effectively a push.

Wasn't a red card offence on looking at the evidence shown on Sky Sports News. Definitely wouldn't have been a red card if he hadn't given the ref/linesmen anything to penalise him about though.

Its just a feeling. I think they'll come down on him having come in from x-yards to get involved in little more than balloons on sticks. I don't think he should get three weeks, but I can't see em letting him off with anything less than at least a couple.

Suppose it depends upon the ref's view of it and his report. HE'll be charged with striking and Gene (??) got two for a nothing incident on the ball so running in from afar to get stuck in I think will get more.

The wello incident was with McGoldrick
RMcG played the ball and stuck his hand out across wellos face
Not sure if he caught him, could have scratched him
Wello went back and started pushing him

Never seen Wello react like that before

Is it because he's a fading star??? or that Captaincy doesn't suit him?

Whatever happens Maurie will wish he had hit someone....he's going to get a ban for NOT hitting someone by the sound of it !
