It's been displayed as next match, on the RedVee homepage, for the last two weeks. I did wonder if anyone had noticed...

I'm not writing anything in here because its just a load of b*****ks
Maybe so but he signed for Saints on the 1st of January 1998.

Apologies for assuming he has been paid a fortune for those matches.Originally Posted by pricey73

BTW this has nothing to do with the blokes achievements or injuries.

I'm tempted to book it off work as Ricky Bibey will be playing. Mouth watering stuff! lol

Blinkin eck. I was looking forward to next season as well. Oh well, think I'll take up fishingOriginally Posted by Div
Dont agree with testimonials on principle, but if we were playing Wigan for example I'd probably go for the occasion. Wakefield doesnt sell it for me in the slightest, and the fact that the season starts the weekend after means my impatience at watching a Saints game will wait another week by then.
i'd rather go to the saints game and let scully have my admission money than go and watch a bunch of overpaid footballers.Originally Posted by Saint Bert
I won't be doing that either, I'll be sat in in my front room watching it on TV lolOriginally Posted by ploughman

I'd go if he said he was giving the cash to a Handicapped Childrens home:saint:

apologies please from all those who said testimonials were outdated and the modern player took too much out of the gameOriginally Posted by Eddie Hemmings' Wig
He has been earning good wages for a while now and with endorsements in addition to this, he is obviously not short of money. He does seem like a family man and has kids himself, so it makes sense to give some proceeds to charity.
May also make for a bigger crowd with fans knowing that money is going to a worthwile cause. Be nice to know exactly how much money will be going to charity. Would have my total respect if it was all the proceeds.

div,
players recieving testimonial cheques could just be the incentive they need not to sign a union contract towords the end of their careers.
dare i say it but scully could have taken a drop in contract money on the promise of a testimonial, thus freeing up salary cap for younger players.
due to the nature of the sport, and the shortness of the career, players deserve all the money they get.its peanuts compared to other sports.if they dont get it in rugby league they will get it in union
More than likely now, all for it, hold my hands up. :saint: :saint:Originally Posted by Eddie Hemmings' Wig

are the results of any medical which would show what we all know
and the number of appearances over the past 2 season have proven.
Div , Bert and co are right testimonals are a thing of the past. Events for
Matt King / Preckie are well deserving and more appropriate than Golden Goodbyes for exceptionally well paid players who have talked up their last two years in the press rather than on the pitch.
