Saint until I die - For richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, through good times and bad.
Is Klein the ref?!!
This is what really annoys me about Rugby though. These young lads have won 20 games throughout the season, remaining unbeaten and yet Leeds could end up with the trophy???? Where is the justice in this. Yes obviously Leeds will have beaten us in the last 2 games, but the best team over the season should take the prize. This game has so many features that other sports could learn from, but this system stinks. In fact its stupid. How can you remain unbeaten throughout the season and win nothing for it???
All clubs know the rules at the start of the season and, to be fair, I have heard of few clubs oppose it.Originally Posted by Stu M

Doesn't make it fair though does it?
You're right but it's still a shame that such an outstanding season ends with nothing to show for it.Originally Posted by Despondent Dave

Probably not but Saints have benefited from it twice in the Super League era as opposed to once the other way so we mustn't grumble too much.Originally Posted by Stu M

My point exactly, glad someone agrees with me lolOriginally Posted by are you blind ref
How must these young lads feel? At 17 they are still boys and their dreams must be shattered.

Come on you Saints.
the play offs are there for one thing only MONEY.but rugby league is like any other business,it has to be profitable.the clubs would lose too much money if the play offs were scrapped.
fwiw, team that finishes top are champions
At the end of the day, the Junior Academy is about nurturing talent for the future. With 20 wins out of 20 that shows that we have the most to be optimistic about.Originally Posted by Stu M
It might hurt the lads now, but the chances are that we still have the best under 18 talent around and, in the long run, that's what really matters.

Exactly, and to not drop a point all season and win nothing???Originally Posted by ploughman
Maybe at junior level, it should be the top team, I dont know really but am gutted that this has happened for them.
I feel like crying for them - all that hard work during the year and no recognition.

Okay semi-agreement with you thereOriginally Posted by Despondent Dave
PS Dave, when we give City a good tonking at OT, you gonna take your Fergie signature vid off???!!!
It's all about preparing them for the first team.Originally Posted by Stu M
If the first team plays that system then it makes sense to subject the academy players to that same mental preparation they are going to have to face at the top level.
At the end of the day we have lost to Leeds, and lost twice. Maybe Leeds saved their best for the Play Offs. Maybe they had a load of injuries. We only beat them by two at their place in the regular season.
We have beaten each other twice so it's not wholly unfair.
At the end of the day we all expected Bradford in 1999 and Wigan in 2000 to take it on the chin. We have to do the same.
It's a shame but if they were so superior then they would have won tonight too. They didn't and by the sounds of it, they have failed by some distance.
You have to be mentally tough as well as having the ability. It will benefit them in the future to learn from this.

I should think I will be bored with it by then anyway.Originally Posted by Stu M

Mind you, I might not be so polite a week on Saturday, especially if there are any dubious refereeing decisions
