Sorry to put this in the rugby discussion but is anybody on here in touch with Alec Murphy. I would like to let him know that his old school mate and ex Pilk Recs and Wigan RLFC player Rees Thomas passed away this morning. He was my father and was 87 years old. He would always laugh when he told me how Alex would ask to play with him and the other older lads on Thatto Heath park, just to be told no, your not big enough and your not good enough, lol. I would appreciate it if this could be pass on to Alex.

Thank you Rogues, the guy that played in the cup final was Rhys Thomas not my dad. He was there in the 50s though. He said unfortunately Austin Rhodes and then Alex Murphy meant he had to go somewhere other than saints.

Sorry my mistake, I should have have twigged, as I almost put I thought Rhys Thomas was Welsh.
My initial reply still stands about the loss of your dad, it's a horrible time no matter what age they are. I've been looking but can't find Alice Murphys e-mail, we used to meet up with her and Alex and quite a few others after the 2008 GB World Cup tour to Australia.
