Just renewed my ST's for next season and was pleasantly surprised to find that they are £100 cheaper overall than last year for the same seats. My youngest lad is 11 and Saints have a special U12's pricing band.
Credit to the club, £587 for me and my two lads in the Gold section of the North Stand is a great price.
Who is going to be the NEW club captain?
It’s Lomax all day long

Why do you think so? Lomax probably has one last season in him where as Welsby is central to our future
[QUOTE=The Yellow Giraffe;894431]I can see what you say but him earning it, which he has I agree, might not make him the best choice. His top class rugby brain and the fact that the others see him as a leader gets him a good shout, but is it best for the team long term? I'm not sure it is.
[QUOTE=Pasty;894432]Personally I'm not sure that is the relevant factor when picking a captain. As far as I'm concerned the captain should be the person most likely to guide us to a major tropy that year. And my own view is that, for next year, that's Lomax.
(Which is not in any way to detract from the fact that JW is still the player likeliest to make the biggest individual contribution over the whole season)
If Welsby was influenced to stay long term by having the captaincy this year... I'm not sure it feels like the best motivation - nor the right choice for our captain.
He will stay if he wants to - and provide leadership whether captain or not.
I feel Lomax is a good choice for the next season or two. Make Welsby vice captain (do those still exist?) - or a clear part of the leadership group, which he already is alongside others.
The strength of the Saints team the last few years has been the collectivity of the team - the ethics, togetherness, camaraderie that have come along with it - they work really hard for each other and are more about seeing others succeed than about themselves. That culture has won us more silverware recently than anything else.
[QUOTE=DewiSant;894469]I think Wello will be more concerned in getting the leadership group up and running I,ve heard Bell, Sironen and Welsby are now in that group. Captain is a fairly easy decision Lomax and possibly Makinson, maybe not overload Welsby with too much responsibilty...just let him play.
The leadership group is arguably more important as it means someone is likely to be on the field in a leadership role for the full 80 mins. Club Captain is an honour which should go to Lomax after Robes and like Robes Jonny should start in a coaching role asap to keep his knowledge in the club? Welsby for me should be free of the responsibility and free just to play at 22?
Learned comment from The Don
Lomax is the obvious choice. Knowles is probably the next after Lomax in a year or two. Then, if he is still at the club, Welsby.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.
