Jack Welsby for instance has been attacked from all platforms just because he plays for Saints, would it be less if he was a Great Britain player.
I think it’s probably more to do with the growth of social media than the name change. Although I would go back to GB tomorrow.

I really think that it's the Aussies who have hindered the international development of the game. They've enjoyed being a big fish in a small pond, with only NZ and sometimes GB to contend with.

I agree with both points. Social media can be poisonous, I deleted my facebook page years ago because of this, I don't do twitter as I really don't get it. I don't mind instagram, that seems to be more positive but I hardly spend much time looking at it. Regarding GB, it seemed to carry much more gravitas and I agree with STIDDY, fans seemed much more supportive, I remember in 1994, I went to Wembley for the first test with some lads from Widnes I went to college with, that was a cracking day and I'm still mates with a couple of them now, I drove over to Sheffield mid week to watch Sheffield Eagles get absolutely hammered with my Granddad. I think Saints played them at KR the week after and we really gave them a game then they hammered us at Old Trafford, we went in the back of my mates Dad's tranny van, I'd already said let's get the train as I knew it would be filthy, my mate, being tight and not blessed with brains wore a pair of those cream jeans that were fashionable for about 5 minutes, he looked like he'd been sleeping rough by the time we got there and was in a right state after the game as the terracing was rotten. We got dropped off at Moss Lane for the bonfire party that night and he somehow ended up on his arse and covered in mud

I think it was a couple of weeks to the final test and I was struggling for cash being a poor student with a money pit fiesta and a bird, I think her Dad took pity on me and sorted me some cash for clearing the yard at his unit in Rainford. I'd got my student railcard the week before so went to the junction Mon-Friday buying a ticket everyday for my mates. Great day again even if the game was a let down, I thought Goulding and Nickle should have started but the Wigan love in was sickening back then. Great days back then, everything seemed much simpler and I certainly don't remember any bad feeling between various sets of fans. Nice little trip down memory lane that.
