Appalling. If folk don't think this is serious they need to ask themselves how they would feel if their wife/partner/ mum was being abused like that, how would they feel.

Some pushing, trespass (going into a private space behind the bar and refusing to leave) and insulting language and so would have justified a breach of the peace or drunk and disorderly against JT. Technically a common assault, pushing, but the police don’t usually charge that. I’d still classify it as loutish rather than anything else. I hope they’ve both grown up a bit since then.

PS I didn’t realise ST had grabbed one of the elderly couple who intervened.

That sounds about right, just after the episode we had a meal at the Owls at Standish and the locals were still talking about it. Apparently Shaun Wane was fuming as he has 2 daughters and lives in Standish, I think the club fined Joel 10 grand.

I can't stand either of them as players and they obviously behaved badly but I've seen far worse in pubs before. I'm not excusing them but I don't think either has been in trouble since. Joel actually sounded a bit "simple" listening to it.

He never played for them again since he was caught on camera! Who knows how often these louts acted in that fashion towards women but weren't filmed? Scum.

If it was the straw that broke the camels back it wouldn't surprise me, certainly wasn't the first incident.

This all sounds familiar, Longy broke a young girls jaw, we still signed him and very few on here ever criticise him.
Many more call for him to be back on the staff.

I thought he was a "model professional" in the time he was with us until his head was turned by the NRL, did promotional work and had a lot of time giving autographs out with the young kids for home and away fans. Didn,t his partner feel dissapointed about going back to OZ because he was behaving himself helped by the club environment here in the UK.

True, he did seem to turn his life around when at Saints, which highlights the excellent culture at the club. Unfortunately he appears to have been a rather weak personality and easily led.

Spot on. His wife was in bits about leaving.

There was a lot of talk about how, in Aus, his extended family and friends circle all saw him as a night-out meal ticket, and would be bad influences on him. Obviously he has his own demons and a person needs to accept responsibility for their own actions, but put a person with some demons linked to intoxication into an environment with people encouraging them to 'party', and it's a recipe for trouble.

About the culture here, I remember a hot, sunny day in the Gerard beer garden watching some England World Cup/Euros game on a giant screen. Place was rammed. In a corner of the old bowling green, were about 10 Saints players, including Barba. The ale was flowing. All the Saints players were perfectly behaved - no Billy Bigbollocks behaviour, no acting the dick, just a group of sensible guys enjoying drinks in the sun and a football game.
He's not the Messiah, he's a naughty boy.

Barba was far from a model professional at Saints. The club did extremely well to keep some things "in house"

As a player though, his performances up to June/July 18 were world class, he was unstoppable at times.

Interesting. Did those things tally up with his form dropping off a cliff?

Not aware of that, what stuff did he get up to.
