    Beat me to it haha.

    11 players leaving, almost a 1/3 of the squad. You'd think we have a few signings to announce and a couple more signing pro contracts like Noah Stephens recently.

    No real surprises there, for me. Some will probably say Pemberton.

    Surprised by Foster and Pemberton.

    With Pemberton going, I think we may need to look for another option at hooker.

    Need some incoming announcements now!

    I had just logged into RedVee when I saw the tweet! If I do this when the squad is announced I will leave you to it!

    The only one that raised an eyebrow for me was Pemberton. I assumed he was being touted as a long term option at 9.

    Our hookers next year as it stands are Daryl Clark (31) and Moses Mbye (30). Certainly a position we should be looking at over the next 12 months. We've been ridiculously spoiled in that position over the years.

    Foster is a big surprise tbh. I thought he was going to get a new deal and I think he was worth it having watched him this year but not to be. I could see him going to somewhere like Salford...

    Pemberton has not done enough and even watching him play for York he is not setting the world on fire.

    However, it is a shame to have to cut players like Pemberton when they have not had the chance to properly develop.

    I am concerned about the age of the hookers too. That is why I thought maybe they were going to sign another hooker with Mbye taking a slightly different role, but does not look like it.

    It confirms the re-signings of Wingfield & Ritson too.

    Have to say I am impressed by the ruthless nature of this list. This tells me also that we either have some more signings coming in or some Academy players will be signing professional contracts and stepping up. We know about Stephens but I also think Vaughan may be with the squad next season too.

    Foster is one that would've been a good player but for injuries and we can't keep on extending contracts if we have doubts over their durability. Thankfully Hopoate isn't being kept on.

    Wellens obviously doesn't rate him. The final nail in the coffin was the Hull game where he chose Knowles there over Lussick and Pemberton.

    Roby -> Clark - New Signing
    LMS -> Whitley (?) - New Signing
    Hopoate -> Blake (?) - New Signing
    Norman -> Eseh (?) - New Signing
    J Sambou -> Dagnall - promoted
    Baxter -> Stephans - promoted
    Hill -> D Sambou - promoted
    Bruines -> Vaughan - promoted
    Moss -> Robertson/Roberts/Whitby (whichever is most ready) - promoted
    Foster -> ?
    Pemberton -> ?

    I know Nolan at hooker is highly rated (we’ve heard that before) but seems a big gap between him and Mbye - maybe there’s someone else coming in? I know Lawford was rumoured a while ago but that doesn’t really narrow the gap!

    Realistically Foster has no chance of a first team spot in the back row at Saints next year. Who knows, Saints may have offered him a deal but he wanted to go elsewhere to play first team.

    Heard ages ago from one of swinton coaching staff (we dual reg with them) that pemberton was on his way out.

    We were chatting about the dual reg and he asked who's everyone got their eye on from the academy. I mentioned pemberton and he immediately shut me down and said "nah, pemberton won't play for saints". He was certain we were getting rid. His attitude was mentioned amongst other things.

    It confused me tbh because everybody else seemed to rave about him, especially on here, didn't know what to make of it.

    Well, he wasn't wrong.

    Very true. I just think this year has shown us that Sironen is susceptible to injury (which was the worry before he came over here) on top of his disciplinary concerns so to have some options in the back row would have been good.

    However, if Witley is coming in with Mata'utia moving up to prop then we have options, so you are probably right.

    Who would you fancy? Assuming we use our remaining non-fed space on a winger/outside back when it would need to be a domestic signing. Liam Hood or Harry Bowes from Wakey hardly get you off your seat do they? Sam Powell anyone?

    Brad Dwyer fresh out of his Warrington deal

    In all seriousness there seems a serious lack of hookers in the game at the moment; it seems to be a really unfavoured position compared to the rest of the spine. Balmworth at Hull seems highly rated but is no different to our kids in having no first team experience, Kain Robb at Castleford maybe? Only regular hooker I can think of under 30 is Litten at HKR but that seems unlikely

    I will need to edit below into a table but it shows the releases and the likely Academy graduates match up pretty well. The club is definitely choosing between players so we have released a lot to make room for the great set if kids in the academy.

    I think it was needed we have quite a few players who are creating a "log jam" for the younger players to progress and develop through. Feel sorry for Foster lots of potential there but has a lot of bad luck eith being injury prone, also Pemberton he was already a half back and tried to make him a hooker but didn't have the physicality.

    We have the younger players coming through quickly in Robertson and Whitby, Stephens and Vaughan are ready for the first team squad, others are Roberts, Dagnall, B.Pemberton and maybe Braddish.

    Yes, but as Stiddy said above, it's a necessary one.

    Agreed, what a statement by Wellens, other clubs getting rid of players because of their dismal season, looks like Wello
    is spring cleaning.....

    I am sure a lot of these players will have a career in rugby league. They have had a great grounding. Good luck to the all!
