Why? Other than him being annoying when he played for Wigan and winding us up, how else does he fit the criteria? He's got loads of property and is financially stable, has a decent sense of humour on Twitter and is an excellent pundit.
I quite like the bloke now if I'm honest.
"The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom." Danny Blanchflower.
Might have been written by a footballer about football - but never a truer word............
He certainly annoyed me a couple of years ago in France when they just pipped us and at the end. He ran to our corner sticking two fingers up and down to the Saints fans. I know he gets some stick from Saints fans but it just came across as childish and petty from someone who a a full time professional, and a sometimes TV pundit.
I agree and have made a similar point before about Tomkins. Think he's the best of the pundits/analysts we see at SL games.
The other thing to say about him, is that in terms of British players, he's been one of the best of his generation. Think he's been the best back we've produced, for sure. Even as he's got older and the injuries have taken their toll, he was still good enough to win MoS a couple years back wasn't he? Top player.
