That was one of the most genuine post game interviews I've heard. James Bell basically questioned himself whether he was a saints player or not. Due to his tough start.
Slowly becoming a club icon.
Well done fella.

Hit Man Bell.....................Superb tackling last night. Imagine Dan Norman tackling like that. Some people have the heart some don't.
I was thinking exactly the same and the way he greeted his kids was lovely. I’m getting a poster of him for my bedroom wall!
He is brilliant.

Mad when you think so many people wanted rid of him at the end of last season. He's always been a very good player, just had limited opportunity under Woolf. He's outstanding in his current role at 13

Looked like there was two of him on the pitch last night.
Went out with a clear mission. Fold as many Leigh players as possible.
Top class work from him
Reminds me of that advert... Belly's gonna get you....
And he did every time....
Great game and deserved man of the match... he is the reason Asiata was water boy for the night ....
That's the Saints way...
Another real success story. Picked up after one season at the elite level at 27, didn’t debut for us until April 2022 and only made seventeen appearances in his first season, not playing in the cup semi-final or the Grand Final and really, a player on the fringes of the side at the end of last year. Given we were at maximum capacity with the quota, had we wanted an overseas signing I think Bell would have been the most likely to let go in the winter of 2022 (Hopoate had a shocker of a year with injury but would have been hard to offload and Sironen, Lussick, Matautia and Hurrell were key players) to accommodate another Antipodean.
Looking at Bell almost a year on, he’s made the most of the opportunities given to him due to injuries and suspensions and he’s played himself into a position where he’s a must have in the matchday squad. He’s been a real success story this year and a player who’s arguably most improved over the past year.

I always felt there was a really decent player there in Bell and it was frustrating at how little opportunity he got under Woolf. This season he has been sensational.
He was a man on a mission last night, was brilliant to see him belting as many Leigh forwards as he could.
I'm not sure anyone ever really wanted rid of Bell, it was just kind of assumed that since he was a quota player not getting a lot of game time that he would probably end up leaving. On paper before the start of the season he didn't get in the matchday 17 but due to all the injuries and suspensions I think he's played every week and made himself indispensable. Gives 100% every time and gives us a different ball playing option in the forwards.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.
Imposter syndrome has become somewhat of a buzz word for 'influencers' and 'social media' people, but it is certainly a real thing having experienced it myself to some degree as I am sure the majority of us have too at one point of their professional career, no matter what that profession is.
In my own experiences, you work incredibly hard to get to a stage in your professional career (whether that be through unpaid internships, unpaid work experience, school, college, uni etc) only to then think whether you should be doing what you are doing or that you should be where you are when others around you seem to have no issues with what they are doing, they are already established and doing well.
I had this when I last moved job. I felt like I knew what I was doing and was confident until I moved to a much bigger business and realised I knew little to nothing about the profession I am in and it was a bit of a shock. So I can only imagine what it is like playing for a professional sports team which has the outside pressures that the ordinary man on the Clapham omnibus does not, then that just magnifies things. He was playing for little Leigh (or so they were at the time) with little to no expectations and then moving to a team who was winning Super Leagues and playing world club championship games over in Aus, you must think whether you should actually be there.
However, full credit to him. Wellens has used him brilliantly this year and on Friday that is probably the best I have seen him play. He was sensational and Amone will be having nightmares about him. I think that it is clear that for the rest of this year Knowles needs to start in the front row and Bell starting at 13.
I once asked Alex Walmesley at a function what was the highlight of his career and he said without a doubt the day he realised he was a Saints standard player. Just shows how much the players value it.
