    Default Wigan game

We appear to be strong favourites with bookies and even Wigan fans are resigning themselves to a defeat with some saying by 20+. Is this a big smoke screen and are they trying to lull us? For me it's the usual pre Wigan game feeling. I'd love to relax and say it's all ours but something won't let me!!

We should win but nothing is guaranteed in sport. Was it as long ago as 2003 when we should have beat them at their gaff by about a hundred and somehow ending up losing?

I think they brought Kevin Brown on at one point and everyone thought a 12 year old ball boy had accidentally wandered onto the field

Their pack is too weak. Saints by 20.
However they are always dangerous, particularly if they manage to shift it wide when under pressure in their own half - and I expect most of the game to be played in their half. Still at full strength we should be able to smoother their flyers and expose their defensive frailties.

A little sad that the supporters of "the most famous club in the world" can't even fill their allocation of tickets in our little ground, perhaps we need to put down a bit of carpet in the away end bars

How many times have we beaten Wigan by 20+? They've only got a few out and those are largely terrible players anyway. The likes of KPP and Isa aren't misses for them at all, they're awful. They have Field, French, Marshall playing. I think us winning with any sort of ease is unlikely. We should beat them, but we should have won the game at their place too. They're going to up their game massively, they're not going to rock up and play like they did against Catalans.

Literally anything can happen in a derby between us no matter who takes to the field. Let's not get ahead of ourselves we've had 2 decent performances this year so far. Hopefully we can start to pick a run of games up now and some form.

Yeah these games rarely end in blow outs and the handicap giving them an 8 start I think is fair. Their fans are just trying to put excuses in early in the unlikely event that happens. This team is largely the same team that beat us on good friday and they will have Field added in, so their pessimism about this match is frankly ridiculous.

Whilst we played well last week, and they did not, the season has a whole suggests that they are more consistent than us

They're literally above us in the league as well.

If we play like last week we will win, its a simple as that. Consistency has been our problem this season but it has been for everyone. Win tonight and we go level on points with Wigan (with a game in hand) and 2pts behind top spot. Pretty incredible given how up and down we've been this year.

Last week felt like a turning point in the season for me, but we will see if that's the case later.

It's on SKY so the "Wigan are massive underdogs" narrative will mean they get every single 50:50 decision for at least the first half to keep it as a close contest for the TV viewers

It’s Saints Wigan, might as well toss a coin. Last weeks second half was about as good as we have played all year bar the WCC and Wire game. If we replicate that we should go ok, but revert to type and they could give us a licking. The amount of times I have heard our pack will dominate teams only for us to fall flat is incredibly high.

You would like to think our crowd will put some pressure on. If we can’t get a few calls at home with a full crowd I give up.

We need to be smarter than when we played them on GF. No doubt they will throw bodies into the tackle to slow us down so we need to get to the edges with tip n plays like we did last week.

We should hammer fields side with Sironen and Percy, he's a top player but doesn't want to defend (we saw that last week against Catalan).

But as always, it will tight & cagey - Saints by 12.

You weren't there for the Leeds game when Kendall was awful then? Despite the crowd creating (thanks to Kendalls bias) a febrile atmosphere he still ended up handing them the game. The next time he officiated at the TW he was escorted in with a couple of Saints security guys at the players entrance, never seen that before.

Any team with French and Field in the starting line up has a chance. As CGSaint said, we played well against Warrington and ballsed it up the next game.

Our best beats Wigan's best, If we cut out the unnecessary penalties and poor decisions that have been in our game this year then we win, if we don't then Wigan will.

Yes was there. Let’s hope lightning doesn’t strike twice. Seem to remember a few refs being escorted off to generous boos over the years. Not that I ever believe a rugby fan would do anything, leave that to football…. Vapes are banned right? …
