What do you all think of magic weekend.
I like that we have a one off with all the fans.. and I think building on it rather than scrapping it. By building on it I mean using the opportunity to introduce new young fans to fill whichever stadium is used
Does anyone actually think its pointless and should be scrapped?

I’d like us to go;
Welsby
Makinson
Hurrell
Percival
Ritson
Lomax
Dodd
Walmsley
Lussick
Lees
Batchelor
Sironen
Bell
Matautia, Paasi, LMS, Roby
Wouldn’t at all be surprised to see Wingfield in there, potentially ahead of LMS, however LMS still continues to defy his age and is performing better than Wingfield for me.
Great concept. Keep it….making it a rival round would improve it.
Playing on the Saturday is great, but Sunday games I’m guessing attendance would be less due to working the next day
I prefer it just being whoever the team is in that round.
It would be a waste of a rival game sticking them all in one.

Lost its identity of what it's supposed to be. It was originally supposed to grow the game in non heartlands area as a showpiece but what do we do other than plonk a few Super League games there.
If it's to grow the game, the host city team should be headlining one of the days, in this case Newcastle. Keep the SL teams there as a draw and get as many fans through the door as possible. At the moment any locals finding their way in may enjoy the day, find a team they've enjoyed watching and then keep an eye at a distance. I don't see that translate to then bums on seats for Thunder.
Get them watching Thunder and they can emotionally get behind the team, far more likely to then re-engage post event.
On the other hand, if it's meant to be a day out as it's become, put it back on Manchester so fans of heartland clubs have easier access and in theory bigger crowds . I've no problem with the slight disruption to the table and scheduling as long as it has an outcome.
Personally id like it to take on some of the superbowl type half time entertainment.. but not in the usual half arsed shoddy rugby league fashion.

I don't think we could afford Rihanna!
For me, the novelty has worn off a little, so for the last few I've just gone for the day, watched Saints, and maybe part of one of the other games.
Probably just watch Saints this year.
I have no problem with Newcastle though, and I have taken in the Thunder's Friday game a few times in the past.
Keep it as a RL 'event' but IMO it does need a format rethink. Not sure into what though!
I think it’s one of the best weekends of the year and I really enjoy watching all the games as they’re often close and interesting for much of the eighty minutes. However, I think it could be done so much better. The experience itself is pretty poor. The fan park, the entertainment inside the stadium between games, the food is the same old at most stadiums, there’s little to engage people throughout the day and over the weekend. I can 100% guarantee that there will be a load of kids playing on the pitch and a touch rugby game at some point. It’s the same as what happens every single year. I’m not against kids playing on the pitch but it’s all very “same old, same old” and little to make it interesting or exciting off the pitch in the way you see with things like Bash cricket, rugby sevens, darts etc which are events people go to.
St Helens Rugby League Football Club
I know lots of Saints players really dislike it as some clubs treat it as a “faux final” even though they don’t earn the right to play in those types of games. We as Saints fans have been spoilt with finals over the last 5 years so it’s no surprise it’s seen as lesser as a consequence.
That being said we have seen 4 different GF finalists (Salford, Wigan, Catalans, Leeds) as well as a bunch of other in the CC (Huddersfield, Castleford, Warrington, Hull fc a couple of years before) which means only 3 clubs, Wakefield, Leigh and Hull KR haven’t had a recent final, and the latter two seem to be building to something at least. Whilst winners haven’t been diversified at all, final appearances do seem to be very evenly distributed meaning diminishing the arguments for Magic Weekend.
I can’t really see the point anymore. Rugby league will never move out of the heartlands until it gets its own house in order. The RFLs attempts to sell the game have always come across as desperate. A good product is searched out. It shouldn’t have to be forced on a potential customer. I suppose it depends on what exactly the purpose of the magic weekends is nowadays.
If it’s a tool to promote the sport take it very far away and give away tickets. If it’s just a day out for existing fans take it somewhere fun. Not sure where Newcastle lands in that respect. We already had Gateshead thunder in super league. It didn’t work. Whitley Bay has a decent Wetherspoons though i suppose :/
screaming in the family corner, scaring the kiddies
I like magic weekend. Haven’t been for a while but always enjoyed it when I did and like having a round of games on telly.

That left edge dies in his hands at the moment though to his credit he has got through plenty of carries and meters since being back. He's just too slow to offer much threat
I won't step one foot in any of the sportwashing arenas owned by evil dictatorships.
He's not the Messiah, he's a naughty boy.
Same here, I went the first two but since then just watch it on TV.
I know it's been mentioned that IMG want to get rid of it but It maybe down to Sky TV to decide.
If it helps them fill advertising spots it will go on.
I know Newcastle seems a popular venue but it maybe better to have say 4 different venues and move it around each year. It would be interesting if it could be played near Catalan one year, I don't think their ground would be big enough
With that in mind I wonder if there's enough TV money in an event like this that it could be free for fans, that may bring in local spectators just for the event.
