    Default Wigan vs Catalan

    Great result for Catalan tonight.

Thought Wigan would win comfortably given the players Catalan had out, the game being in Wigan and the conditions too!

A lot of credit has to go to McNamara for what he's doing there, including the development of some of the young French players.

If Catalan can get their best 17 out on the field, they could be challenging like they did in 2021.

Wigan look like they'll have the same problems as last year- really struggle to go through the stronger sides in the competition and rely heavily on going around teams.

Wigan looked terrible albeit the conditions probably suited a patched up Catalan team . Set for set and ugly grind made it conducive for a Catalan win .

Wigan pack is going to cause them problems again . It appears they have totally ignored or dismissed the importance of recruitment in this area for a few years .

A reliance on field and French ( again) won’t be enough

Last night I didn’t realise that Wigan had a pack

I thought Catalan got away with a lot of lying on after tackles to be honest but that said Wigan didn’t look too threatening with the ball.

Can’t knock Catalans either way, great result all things considered.

I thought the John Wells in the changing room thing was a waste of time. Getting insight into stuff like that which would have to be post match for tactical reasons but his feedback was much of a nothingness.

Last of all, “he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll meet” but Willy Isa’s lip was some state, hats off to him with that one and playing on.

Micky Mac out wigan'd wigan with his sh*thousing.

Got under the skin of Cust , ruined his night, which then put pressure on Harry Smith - who is already garbage.
    Hounded Powell at Hooker.

He went back to Catalan with 3 of wigans 4 spind players in his pocket.

...and he dont speak french or feels comfortable speaking french, stop asking him, its not funny.

Gonna go shower in bleach after typing all that

Take Field and French out and they finish 4th to 7th in the table likely. But with those two likely somewhere in the top 4. They are being carried.

I think Cust is their Lance Hohia “excuse the spelling lol”he only played hooker in the NRL before he came over here and never half in the memory of man and their forwards are awful if they pick up injuries in the pack they will really struggle

Was an absolute mess. Couldn't believe how long it took them to get him off the pitch.

As a seperate observation wigans full kit w@nker team doctor cracks me up with his socks pulled up to his knees. Fair play to him for sticking with his bizarre choice of attire last night tho. It was bloody cold!

Wigan seem to be the archetypal "flat track bullies" these days

They absolutely tonk the weaker sides with an arrogance that is bordering on offensive but when they are in a contest against a good side, that doesn't crumble, they lose more often than not

That's not what you want for play-off rugby. They were lucky that they played an injury-ravaged and exhausted Saints side in the cup last year as that trophy is masking some clear deficiencies in their mentality

Loved how, before the match, Wells spouted on about the Goons only conceding an average of 9 points a game this season and comparing it to the winners of the last three full seasons in the Super League and NRL - what a chump.
By the same standards then we should end up with around 13 red cards and 30 odd yellows this season!!

Spot on re Wells who is fast becoming an irrelevance. The nonsense re the half time changing room intervention was just that, nonsense. I don't think fans do want to see or hear what teams and coaches are planning, I could be wrong though. I loved the way the Pie's crowd were on the refs back re Ctatlans lying on when their own team were just a guilty. A slug-fest of a match and hats off to Catalans for toughing it out. French Field and Marshall were the Pie's only threats and they were nullified completely. Don't get me wrong Catalans are masters of the dark arts and bully boy tactics, just nice to see the Pies getting some of their own medicine at "Fortress DW"! Two scummy teams.

That was also a highlight for me

Could be a sign of the times that the players aren't confident enough to take the •••••• out of him for how utterly ridiculous he looks so he just carries on oblivious. That said, Cade Crust looks like he lets his kids cut his hair, so maybe the culture there is to just let people express themselves in whatever way they want?

Some nauseating commentating as usual, especially around how tough Willie "third man in" Isa is.

Agree on McIlorum running the game but the accuracy and speed of his distribution still let him down at times. Thought Catalans would run out of steam but a combination of Wig*n errors (was Harry Smith wearing clogs?) and grit saw them through.

The Wi*an pack is dire. Smithies couldn't break out of a wet paper bag, sparrow legs Singleton is bang average, Ellis and Havard are invisible and Mago an absolute pudding. Phil Clarke spoke a bit of sense at the end saying they lack firepower and using our starting props as an example of what's needed

Don't feel too much of a threat from Wigan Athletic's biggest spending supporters this season, they look like they need a rebuild.

There a bit of handbags with Isa last night and like always when Isa is involved Terry Oc always says that they are the best of friends off the pitch. It seems Isa only starts anything with his friends.

Props win pots, how long will it take for Wigan to realise this?

Even Clarke said they need a dominate prop like a Lees or a Walmsley.

They’ve still not conceded a lot of points.

Only problem with that is they’ve lost two games anyway!

Thought Wigan looked absolutely ordinary. French on the wing is a complete waste of talent, he needs to be on the ball more.

McMeekan isn't a prop in a million years.
