The point is though that by Welsby "losing his cool" he drew the officials attention to a mistake said official had made. Let's be honest apart from some players and fans on that side of the pitch, many of us missed it. Barrie Mac, Wilkin, the commentator, the touch judge and of course, Mr Kendall. The point is that having had the offence brought to his attention (and an offence deemed worth of sin binning or sending off and a subsequent penalty at that! Not to mention bans for further fixtures.) Kendall should have sucked it up, put his ego away and admitted a mistake instead of compounding the issue and saying in his view "it wasn't a shoulder charge", when all the aforementioned could see it was on a replay. Why couldn't Kendall see what Barrie Mac, Wilkin, the commentator, SKY cameras etc could see? Because his ego wouldn't allow him to! As for players losing it, despite being penalised and being warned for his conduct Blake Austin continued to argue with the referee all the way through the match. That challenge to his authority however was deemed acceptable by Mr Kendall, unlike Welsby's.
Not really a surprise. Hurrell was pretty clear a red and Sione has priors.
Hopoate was just precautionary, so assuming that was true, then he will just slot in for Hurrell. Some players will return in the pack too so a bit of a reshuttle there. Bell is now our first choice backrower, which is a big turn around. As you say, LMS/Wingfield can move out wide a bit and Passi can return to the front row.
Part of me would like to see some fresh legs, but I don't think that is how Woolf would have done it so it won't be how Wello does it.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.
Yeah I have no sympathy for Sironen and Matautia as they've done it several times previously; and you can't really argue with the Hurrell one.
Walters getting a fine just confirms what we all knew already - Kendall messed up.
As for this week, I'm really looking forward to it now - I always like it when there's a little bit of adversity around us and hopefully we will come out firing. We will have more than enough on paper to win - it's all about us getting back to our normal standards.

For the game at Leigh I would go Walmsley, Lees, Passi, Norman as props with LMS, Knowles, Knowles, Bell in the backrow with Wingfield and Roby on the bench. I,m assuming Passi, Hopoate and Roby will be available.
No, it’s not a try because he touched it, the ball separated from his hand and then he touched it again which is deemed a no try as the first touch means he has to regain control. But if the first touch never happens, then despite not having much control, it would be awarded as a try due to “downward pressure”. The downward pressure tries would all be considered a knock on in the field of play, that’s why I think the distinction here doesn’t really make much sense.
I agree. We’ve always been too honest as a team. We don’t do sly things like that but if Lees stays down injured Kendal awards a penalty, the Leeds lad gets a yellow card and we win. We’re too honest. By contrast how often does Richie Myler fall on the floor? In every game at least twice he’s on his arse in back play waiting for the refs whistle.
screaming in the family corner, scaring the kiddies
Too honest ? There are no levels of honesty - you're either honest or you're not. Personally I like to think, and am pleased to say, that we're generally an honest team / club. I don't think that it's possible to criticise Myler et al and at the same time suggest we should act like them ! Welsby says how much of an influence Roby is......he needs to put words into actions as no way would Roby have behaved like that !
Gotta say I agree
Do things the right way. Lees would have give it back x2 legally so Welsby didn't need to run in.
Cannot be stooping to Mylers level. That guy is a disgrace and I hope at some point he is heavily punished for his antics. By a ref or a player![]()

Hi Mickey,
Good point on the bench. For me though, it's a lack of an option to come on and speed the game up out of dummy half. Roby missing of course, but where was the next in line? Same against Cas in round 1.
I commented after the game, that there was a stat that Saints only came up with 1 run out of there all game.
Yes you want to be running with quick ruck speed, but the strength of the side is in the forwards. Lussick for all his attributes, doesn't offer that running threat. He is a schemer and so needs a foil that gives the spark.
I do not watch the reserve or academy games. It makes you wonder about how the club see the development of players like Pemberton, whom people on here say is the third choice hooker. Or the halves, even.
*Not to be confused with Mike Stephenson, MBE
I can't wait to play these cheats again, to correct some injustices. I hope we go out to smash Myler, Austin, Walters & Smith.
They're a horrible, horrible team.
He's not the Messiah, he's a naughty boy.
