Yeah, a bit rusty at the end of sets, but this has been a great opening 20 after all the talk about Samoa’s pack.

Has the BBC Muted the crowd sound or are they playing in a Library?

Great try. Whole set was fantastic, Samoa were all over the place with the quick PTBs

Welsby is certainly making his mark now.

Welsby having a stormer (passes that Tommy Martyn would be proud of)

Excellent link up play between Welsby and Young. Its dangerous right edge we have on display.

Bit of inexperience there from Jack, but those are the things you learn from. Not often you can say a player has had a hand in every try so far

Been a mixed performance from Welsby - two brilliant assists and a good try but as well as the interception his kicking game has been pretty ropey.

Mighty impressed with England overall though. The pack has been immense, and the backs have really chipped in. Farnworth has been very impressive.

    Few thoughts on the first half;
    - We're much faster playing the ball and it's hurting their pack.
    - Can we stop these little chips/grubbers through the line on the 5th every time.
    - Need to stop the offload game that the likes of Paulo and Papalii bring. They're not achieving much on their first phase plays, but the offloads are allowing Luai etc space and that's hurting us.
    - Wingers and centres been very good early in the sets making plenty of metres.
    - Forwards were doing a good job of containing them but towards the end of the half more offloads were happening, so as mentioned earlier, need to wrap the ball up.

I didn’t mention Watkins in my post. Looks like he did five years ago.

Micky Mac should be nowhere near the England team. Jesus christ. We look better when Tomkins is taking that role.

If he gets in the team after this Wane is a liability.

We are definitely missing Walmsley but I'd say Mclrorum is the only player that definitely shouldn't be in the team

Encouraging signs from England but we weren’t as physically dominant and fell off a few tackles in that last 10 minutes.

Just saying the same. Virtually every pass in the first 20 mins slowed down play. Samoa look like they landed this morning. Can only play what’s in front of you though, and a decent start to the tournament.

We need to end our sets better. Need to find the grass more.

That was my worry when I saw the team. Neither Welsby nor Williams are really natural kickers.

Exactly. Just look at Nathan Cleary's end of sets when he plays. Unbelievable!

I questioned Watkin’s selection but fair play he doesn’t look out of place and his try was class (albeit to quote Johnathon Davis it was poor poor defence easy try)

He’s been superb in attack and defence. The whole back line has, to be fair.

    What a snorefest.

Slow, dull, crowd pretty much silent. Play in tougher football games on a Sunday morning.
