Looking forward to the game, if being nervy, as I am for any final. What a way to do four in a row, beating Leeds, the first team to go three in a row and to put to put the period that felt like Groundhog Day against them. They’re a very good side under Smith and in great form and wins at Catalans and Wigan are testament to that.

We’ve had some good finals as a game, both in the Cup and the Grand Final, in recent years and while I would rather we had the game wrapped up by half-time, I hope it’s another good day.
I don’t think Knowles gets a ban you know. I’ve watched the Tatola Chicken wing tackle for Souths and it’s far worse. The NRL who have also been stamping out this type of thing have fined him stating on field punishment sufficient, opposing player milks penalty however defending player does apply unnecessary pressure to the joint. Player lets go of hold when he realises this and opponent remains down for period of time before resuming to play remainder of game.
All sounds very similar to Morgan Knowles challenge to me.
There are also no way any other bans from our semi so same team into the final for me, exception of Hoppa if he passes fitness test

It's getting a bit much now.

If it was up to a few on Southstander, we would have to play our u19s. It's getting farcical.

I've seen a lot of talking of moving Bennison to the wing and playing Hopoate at full back, but I'd leave Benno where he is and put Will on the wing. Jon has been exposed on the wing a couple of times and lacks the physicality needed, especially as the wingers are crucial to us clearing our lines and with the need for strong defence against opposition wingers. He's been excellent at full back and his lack of strength does not get exposed as much back there, so I see no need to change it.

Or leave Percival on the wing and put Hopoate at centre?

Channel 4 highlights on YouTube are great. But reading the Salford drizzle is annoying. They obviously missed Batchelor being pulled back. FFS.k

Few people mentioning Will plays wing in the biggest game of the year!

I got crucified in the other thread

Channel 4 even tweeted it to promote the game saying something like “Jack Welsby is up for this!”

It was just a brilliant tackle

If Hopoate did get injured we'd just revert back to yesterdays backline so itd be worth the risk IMO. If Welsby is available too we'd have the strongest backline and halves combination we've had since April.
Assuming they are all available, that’s what I would go with.

Last week I said Percy on the wing, but he really is wasted there.

Yes, if he got through the game with no ill effects then back to centre for the last game of the season.

KW saying Hoppa will play if they are confident he will last 80 mins. How does he hang any credibility on that happening?
He his a handy player to the team but for me, he almost has to do a welsby or Naiqama type effort on the night to rescue his reputation for 2022.
KW as his employer, is correct to rest him if he is not right though.

If that tackle gets a ban then it is time to give up watching the game.

Alex and Morgan will be a big miss for us and our style of play.
Newman and Sezer will be missing for them.
It will be a tough game as all GF`s should be.
    We will win.

I'm waiting to see what happens with the Disciplinary to be honest TT.

A few moons ago now but being turfed by Leeds in 4 out of the 5 between 2007 & 2011 makes me nervous. One team I don't write off this time of year.

    It's anyone's

Bennison to stay at full back for me. Percy centre, hopoate on the wing. Pack of Lees, Roby, Passi, Batchelor, Sironen and Bell. If Hopoate isn't fit we have no option but to play Davies as far as I can tell. Presumably he'd have to go centre with Percy on the wing. Knowles and Matautia have no chance in my opinion. We really need Hopate to come through this week. Welsby surely will be fine. If that gets a ban then I'm done with RL.

Yep, that looks like a ban to me based on the current “interpretation” of the rules.

Who knows with the disciplinary but what I would say is Matuatia is genuinely attempting to tackle the man and he wraps his arms around. It isn't high. He is fractions late but I don't think there's alot he can do about it. It'd be ridiculous to be banned for that.

It was almost instantaneous. I would expect it to be ok.

Remember not so long ago when we had the phrase "committed to the tackle", which was universally accepted? I'd like to know how much time Sione had to pull out of that tackle from the point of the ball being released to contact.

Another half a second quicker by Matautia and it would be a replica of the Welsby one. Same Salford player in Atkin that lad likes playing "dead" when he gets hit full on. Can't remember if the ref, touch judge or video ref saw it as foul play if so then the disciplinary should see it as it is, a full committed tackle with arms wrappped on impact.

If you pause the clip in the right place Matautia has virtually made contact and the ball is barely 6 inches away from Atkins hands
