Yes, that’s a better idea. I really like Murphy

Not at the game, but it looks like Murphy has a first half hat trick. Anyone who is there got any comments? His stock is on the rise!

Apparantly two of his tried was great finishes. You don't get the opportunity get players like Murphy often.

Saints have got to offer him a deal..give Wakey the cash or players in exchange.

    Wigan will be sniffing

He finishes his tries well and with spectacular Makinsonesque dives but I haven’t seen enough of the rest of his game to say he’s worth signing.

I’m the same reg the rest of his game. He recently admitted to Sky after he won the MOTM that he wants to work on the defensive side to his game.

He’s only 20, so there’s still a lot of growing in his game that can be added in

Aye, there's the difference with experimenting with your own, home-grown, talent that doesn't cost you anything. Who have we actually spent any money on in recent years? We are not in an era of spending (unless you are Warrington) but is he worth a punt if we can do some player swapping?

Give Wakefield that £100k league leaders bonus to take home instead of Murphy.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

No Brainer IF Wakey would sell. Young English and good looking like Regan.

He will have flaws in his game he is 21 and only one real season under his belt. Saints with better coaching around him could really have a world class winger.

Won't get this chance again as makinson probably got another 2 years left and if we sign a winger you'd think they'd get a two or three year deal.

Murphy will be wanted by every SL club. Two years time he'll be playing somewhere else already.

    Trinity fan here,

His defence has been outstanding, he’s displayed an ability to read the attacking plays and knows when to stay out and when to jam in, he’s also laid on some big defence and put a couple of certain try scorers over the touchline with real body on the line bell ringers.

As for speed he’s in the the Tome Johnstone mould, he has it to burn but more importantly he knows how to use it and even displays an Offiahesque hitch kick and high stepping technique to ghost past defenders. He did Mamo all ends up by combining speed and a high step.

I’d expect Wakefield to be in the process of upping his salary and tying him to a long contract as we speak.

he is obviously good at catching forward passes eg two of his tries today. I can't see us signing him as its not our MO in recent years. More than likely he will end up at Leeds.

We are actively in for him. Doesn’t guarantee we’ll get him but we are in the mix. There’s a lot of interest in him.

It may be in our favour that he will have no competition for a first team place.

    Great news.

I’m sure we will be his number 1 choice. Where else will he have the opportunity for a starting spot going for the record breaking 5 in a row Grand Final wins?

We should get John Kear and Newlove and one or two other people from Yorkshire to sit down and have a talk to him .

If this is the case, Saints need to flex their financial muscle here.

Murphy really is showing that he's an exciting young talent.

He's accustomed to playing in SL and on the left side too. Doesn't impact the quota either. Would be a good signing.

Either pay a transfer fee and/or exchange a player a two.

Recent comments from Wakefield's CEO outline the difficulties they've had this year in terms of keeping the club operational-

I think they could very well be if French goes.

Leeds are reported to have signed Derrell Olpherts. They already have Ash Handley of course for the other side of the field.
*Not to be confused with Mike Stephenson, MBE

Throw in a gazebo and a nice water feature and we should secure the deal.

Seriously we should be able to out bid Wigan on this. He shouldn’t disrupt our pay structure since we will probably offer him Grace’s terms. The only issue will be transfer fee, and that will be up to Carter, who will rightly sell to the highest bidder (I don’t think Wakefield will accept players it’s cash they need)

We also have a spare £100k from league leaders to add to the pending transfer fee.

He's out of contract next year so if we signed him before next season we would pay the development fee.

I'd imagine there's a chance that with the interest being shown in him and the clubs involved in the chase we may see a fee higher than the development cap for the first time in a while.
