Clearly Thompson would be a huge asset to the team....but Walmsley Lees Paasi Norman is still probably the best front row in the competition, and we are likely going to go into 2023 as the favourites regardless of whoever Luke Thompson plays for. My point is, that adding Thompson adds a huge amount of cost to the club, but his signing wouldn't fundamentally change our fortunes on the pitch to the same degree.

We would probably get a better return on investment by spending the same huge amount of money on a top class winger to replace Grace, rather than Thompson.

If we have over £250k to spend, I would sooner use it to keep Woolf rather than sign Thompson.

I can't see Thompson coming back here, certainly not for next season. If he decided to come back in 2024 I imagine we'd have more flexibility on our salary cap but I imagine we're pretty tight next season and the wing spot seems more of a priority for me at the moment.

In response to questions from Bulldogs fans... Phil Gould has tweeted over the weekend to confirm that Thompson is back in Sydney. He also said 'Luke has no desire to play in the UK at this time'.

And just to say, as much as Gould has his detractors... I think it's really refreshing that someone in his position, responds to honest questions from fans of the club.

Catalan have offloaded a couple of props, are they making room for a big signing?

You'd think they must have quite a big name lined up to replace Kasiano at least. Dudson much easier to replace.

They have signed Sio Siua Taukeiaho from Sydney Roosters who will be on BIG money.

    Ta.
I read the bulldogs forums from time to time. Some rate him and others don’t much. Most agree that he’s decent enough but not quite worth the big money he’s on. I hope he switches clubs, takes a pay cut and proves himself over there.

That's a very good signing indeed if he comes with his A Game.

Taukeiaho will be a really strong addition to Catalans, he's big, athletic, fit, and can do big minutes. Probably not as big an impact as Kasiano for example but you'll get more minutes from Siua.

Dudson isn't even in the same parish as Taukeiaho so I don't think Catalans have lost much in losing 2 and gaining 1 so far, apart from head count.

Thompson is back playing tomorrow. Named on the interchange against the Eels-

Saw him at the Grand Final last night as well as Bully Boy Smith. Combine the two and here's what you could have won Luke
