I am going to watch the game but it almost feels forced!

Having said that, I've scribbled down what I would pick from the 20 named, I think it will be something along the lines of:

    Tomkins
    Maksinon
    Watkins
    Wardle
    Hall
    Welsby
    Williams
    Walmsley
    McShane
    Cooper
    McMeeken
    Farrell
    Bateman

    McIlorum
    Batchelor
    Oledzki
    Lees

Ashton, Philbin and Ratchford to miss out. However I know Wane is a big fan of Ratchford so him on the bench over Batchelor wouldn't surprise me.

You could probably name a side as good, if not better, made up of players not playing this weekend who will be in and around the World Cup squad - so I am not sure what we are going to learn from this weekend really. Off the top of my head you have the NRL based lads (Burgess, Whitehead, Sutton, Farnworth, Young) plus the likes of Lomax, Knowles, Percival, Davies, Marshall, Currie, Newman, Clark who would all have chances. It could be a very very different England team that faces Samoa in a few months.
I think if he picks Lees for the 17 he should start him alongside Walmsley. Get the best out of him otherwise there’s no point having him in there.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

It’s a debut for Welsby and a big chance for Batchelor and lees before a World Cup. Good luck lads, go get ‘em.

I,m more interested in the Ladies game England v France, think its live on the Sportsman. Just get the feeling the mens game will be boring and hope the saints players are the standouts in the team.

My biggest hope by far is that none of our players get injured

Got the 17 right but jus got the hookers the wrong way round.

It's the best 17 he could name out of the 20 but the squad is pretty underwhelming. Appreciate eleven missing but there's about 7/8 max of the team you would want to pick in the World Cup.

It’s an uninspiring squad to be sure. Unless we fly out to Australia mid season we aren’t going to see anything better unfortunately. Fingers crossed the Saints contingent come through unscathed.

That French tryscorer looks like Dr pimple popper. Fair play to them getting a try. The ref is giving England everything.

Pundits - ‘Shaun Wanes squad selection may seem controversial but he favours hard working honest players who defend well.’

If Williams creates even one try tonight he will probably get stoned on his way home.

They could play till Christmas and Makinson won’t get a pass from Watkins.

Powell will probably be thinking how come Wane can get him to perform in one training session that he couldn't do over the last 6 months, the fact he did it at the Halliwell Jones is rubbing salt into Powells wounds.

Hanley had more to say about England than his own team.

Big build up pre-game about Tongas devastation. Hanley - ‘spare a thought for matt parcel’.

Sounds like no injuries picked up, so a successful evening for us.

    Enjoyed the game.

My word Mcshane is stealing a living. For all that was said about Mcilorum playing, he linked well with Welsby , Williams and Tomkins. McShane killed all momentum

I expect alot of that team to not make the cut when it comes to the World Cup.

It wasn’t that impressive Ralph but England did look quite physical. Wanes selections seemed justified and will continue to until England lose of course haha. It look like he is challenge every hooker in England to prove their worth.

They aren’t worth much! Roby is still comfortably the best.
