Woolf said in an interview last off season this will be his last season so who’s the new coach?

Be looking to tempt Briers over in some capacity if he is tempted to leave Wigan. Their attack has been transformed

Not as far as I’m aware. You posted this, where did you get it from?

I doubt Briers will ever coach Saints . Wello to replace KW .

He,s not committed to anything yet, he will certainly have a very good offer on the table from Saints. For me it will be decided by Woolf,s wife to see out another possible 12 months.

    Can't see Briers doing that.

    However the idea is excellent.
    An external non-bootroom attack coach.

    Kevin Brown would be good.
Doesn't have to be him but you get the idea.

I would also be receptive to an attack coach from OZ.
Somone to come over as an assistant at Saints.

I think he would come as head coach but that won’t happen. Not sure why he would leave one assistant post for another. I wonder whether Wellens is ready for such a big job. I hope he is but it seems like a risk. Wolfe for one more year is possibly the best option and maybe Briers might work as an assistant then just for the experience. On the other hand just go back to Australian coach conveyor belt when Wolfe leaves. Is Wellens currently coaching our attack?

Yes it certainly has. It pains me to say it but they look dangerous with the ball but not so good when they are defending.

Would prefer to see Longy given a second stint, the biggest problem at the moment is that our attacking spine has been missing for a large part of the season now and even the best attacking coach in the game would struggle.

Losing players like Dodd, Grace, Matautia, Hopoate and one armed Lomax is very damaging and it’s no wonder our attacking points are 2 or 3 scores lighter at the moment.

I think this period now is the biggest cchallenge we have faced since the arrival of Holbrook. Maybe it’s the pessimist in me but I don’t feel that we have got going yet this season in relation to our potential .

I’m not great with Change ! However I do feel better that he gone with Welsby in the halves

Before the season started a lot of posters here discussed the quality depth of our squad and that has very much been put to the test from Round 6 onwards. Injuries and match bans from Round 6 has blunted our attacking options and thats when we have not going in the season from that period.

Our biggest test will come in the month of July when we play all our challengers Catalan, Wigan, Huddersfield in consecutive weeks, if we get through that one then we are probably looking at a top 2 place and a probable LLS trophy before the play offs.

I reckon Woolf has handled it very well with some astute decisions yet keeping our defence in tact, can't think of any coach past or present who has overcome such challenges.

Either Woolf is staying or Wellens has got the gig. No rumours coming out of the NRL or SL about Saints being after anyone which is unusual. Woolf seems to like it here I suppose much will depend on his wife.

Not sure about Wellens, haven’t we done this before.?The only thing I would say is that surely he saw enough with Cunningham to not accept if he didn’t think he could do the job. Maybe that will avoid history repeating itself?

Why would it be the same, they are two different people? Two very different characters. Wellens will not succeed or fail because of anything Cunningham did, or did not, do. I hope he gets the job at some point and that he does well, but if he fails on his bum it is nothing to do with any previous coach

Quite. Cunningham didn’t have the benefit of learning under Holbrook and Woolf either.

Yes and he was too close to some of the players in his squad and had played with them for years so it is quite different
