Smithies has some terrible moments of Roid Rage. But he isn’t as bad as Bentley, not yet anyway.

Has there been an announcement of this?

It seems crazy to bring in more punitive actions to punish head-shots or late hits that cause whiplash, in order to try to eradicate these from the game to reduce the risk of long-term brain damage, then scrap them almost completely a few months in because coaches and some of the dirtier players are whining.

If it needs tweaking, fine. But they've gone back to it being more or less a free for all. There's this concept called the happy medium... maybe the RFL should try it.

Regardless of all that, it seems insane that the scum have had the fewest yellow cards this season when they've got more than their fair share of cheapshot grocks, with Smithers being an absolute thug who thrusts his misshapen noggin into the face of opposition players a number of times each game.

The sport’s bonkers keep bringing in ideas then u-turning on them. Granted, the refs were too card trigger happy a few months back. They were sin binning players for the strangest of incidents (0players accidentally colliding off the ball etc). However, whether we’re playing under todays rules, the rules of 3 months back or the rules of 3 years back, Smithies should have been sat down for 10 minutes after that second high shot.
