    Default Grace out

With Reagan Grace injured for the first few weeks of the season who is likely to start on the left wing? Could it be Percival on the wing and Hurrell at left centre?

Ok thanks Brook I didn’t realise that. Arguably testimonials dont matter. Who will pick up that position when the competition actually starts?

Might be some good news has slipped out here.

Woolf saying the three guys mentioned (Walmsley, Knowles and Grace) have all signed new contracts to 2024 or 2025.

Sadly just a mistype I believe. The original interview said 'two of the three'.

    Correct: https://www.manchestereveningnews.co...elens-23184715

Two of the three guys you mention there have very recently signed new contracts until 2024 and 2025 respectively. So clubs can desire them all they want, but they're not going anywhere.
Though I suppose it’s also possible that’s the verbatim quote, and the original interview edited it knowing Grace hasn’t been announced?

    We can but hope.

If Walmsley or Knowles depart we might as well go on sabbatical for a few years. I hope the club are looking long and hard at home we replace the big man, as well as getting quotes for his statue.

I think Walmsley will be here till he retires. Young family all growing up here. Hes happy.

Knowles , tough one to predict. Hes also now got a young family , so up rooting and heading off to Aus isnt probably on his mind right now. The long term contract might also be an insurance policy for Saints meaning if any one wants to come in sooner for him, there will be a transfer payment for it.

It's something that winds me up on a bi-annual basis. We have legends of the club who have almost no permanent recognition. Rather than a solitary one on a roundabout or Keiron hiding on top of a turnstile, we really should have something more permanent. Personally I'd go for pillars around the ground. The immortals like KC, Robes, Longy, Scully, Martyn, Newlove, Sullivan, Hunte, Joynt, Walmsley and Welsby should have statues (I decide, not you) and the greats like Wello, LMS, Naiqama, Amor etc get permant recognition too. Make a big deal of it.

IFFFFF we win the 4th one I can't see anyone wanting to leave next year. Probably inspire Roby to make it year 20.

Didn't Roby say in the piece with Danny Houghton on Channel 4 before the game that he was calling it a day at the end of the season? He sounded pretty sure his body had had enough!

Think he’s hoping his career ends of a high, his body has been goosed for years. I’d imagine under strange circumstances for a fan, Roby would only go on into 2023 if we don’t win anything this year.

Originally ruled out for the first month of the season. Ahead of the Wakefield game Woolf said Regan was ahead of schedule, travelling well but they didn’t want to rush him back. Can’t be far away from being back in the squad now then?
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

We don't need to rush him back; let him recover (and try to get his fitness up - he's not played yet this season)

He could be ready for the Toulouse game but at the moment we don't need to rush him, just glad Simm has got the opportunity to get some game time, him and Hurrell have really worked hard in the pre season.

Would prefer Simm to play on the wing though for the Wire game, Hopoate was signed up as a centre so he should be getting more game time in that position from now on.

When he comes back will he automatically go back to the left wing? Tommy has done really well there so far this season.
