Do Catalan have the same cap as Wire or do they have an exception based on the amount they must be spending on Aussies and the number of overseas players they have?

Ironically, no they don’t. Up until last year, the salary cap was set in Euros separately for them in the salary cap. The rate was set a decade ago if I remember correctly, and was giving them quite an advantage in real terms (up to 20% if I remember correctly). Interestingly, the last rule set I could find (https://www.rugby-league.com/flipboo...dex.html#p=297) simply states that for teams using other currencies (aka Catalans) simply needed to agree their cap with the RFL. So even more obscure and dodgy.
They also are really poor to their local players and pay them really poorly I believe, which creates a really two tier team
I thought it was the income tax rules in France that gave them the majority of that 20% advantage? Either way it's something I agree with, expansion clubs like Catalans are vital to the sport and them being a strong team improves the profile of the sport massively. The abillity of the RFL to sell out the finals they reach is another matter and one that shouldn't exist.
