    Default Magic Weekend 2022

Glad to see we have Wigan at magic weekend. Hopefully a decent weekend of fixtures.

2 derbies and catalan / wire.

    Hotel booked

It’s actually a very good lineup of fixtures. While I think we have the better side, what you’re guaranteed under Wane is a Wigan team that’s going to get stuck in and that can and has created some pretty close games, the Hull derby has had some decent games in the past, Catalans with Pearce look arguably stronger than they did this year and Warrington under Powell will be interesting, Leeds and Cas is a local derby and has had some decent games in recent years and I’m interested to see how Toulouse get on against a Wakefield side that will struggle.

I like Magic. The idea behind is good, if it’s not marketed the right way from the sport.

Is that instead of being at Saints? If it is then I am not at all in favour for it. Does the RFL cover any losses the club would have by not having this fixture at TWS? Of course if it's instead of being at DW then I think it's a great idea.

It's considered an extra fixture so we will still play the home and away

I know but in previous years when we've played Wigan 3 times it's been twice at our place and once at theirs and vice versa ... I'm just curious how that would effect Saints, missing so much potential revenue.

It’s always depended on loop fixtures. The last 2 seasons we’ve only played Wigan home and away once so it’s not like the club would be planning on the revenue of an extra home game against Wigan.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

History suggests it should be at home. 2019 was away, therefore, 2020 should have been at home and 2021 should have been away.

Fiddlesticks! I'm already away for a weekend elsewhere that week for my 50th. At least it will help keep numbers down to a manageable level, as a good number of those I was going to ask will be in Newcastle. :-)

Though we got the home derby in 2021, so it also wouldn’t surprise me if Wigan got the Good Friday home game.

Wigan got the last good Friday with fans and also got the fixture last season with a full crowd allowed so we should get good Friday at home this year if all is fair.

St James Meccadome has been added to my list of grounds to boycott, so I shan't be going.
