Disappointing from England but at least the competitive game fame us some indication on who is good and bad.

    I took the following points.

Walmsley and Cooper are much better than Oledski and Philbin.

Hardacker isn't very flash but much more reliable that Lyne.

Lomax very organised but not the running threat he was.

Farrell didn't prove more wrong. High work rate, low discipline. But he got more involved than Currie.

Abdul looked a bit more like a ball playing 13 than a 7, but he was still pretty solid.

I would have liked to see more of Leeming. He made us look better when he was on.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

Disciplinary Panel explanation should be interesting tomorrow.

As has been observed by other posters, the England performance dipped whilst Alex was off the field and picked up again upon his return. Bateman did okay but with his temperament still not skipper material for me. Enjoyable watch and plenty to build on for Wane.
Could always be ineptitude in the position, but he's such an immature prick of a human being, I wouldn't totally rule out him doing it deliberately because Makinson plays for Saints.

Farrell is excellent but for me you need size against the Aussies. McMeeken and Whitehead have that size. Farrell as back up.

There’s something about Farrell though. For all McMeeken’s size Farrell has more metres, more average gain per carry, more tackle busts and more clean breaks. He is small but he runs great lines and punches well above his weight. For me McMeeken doesn’t have the temperament for international rugby. Whitehead is a shoe in, Bateman if he gets back to form but Farrell would certainly be next in line and probably take the 17 shirt. Now that I’ve defended a Wigan player I’m off to wash my mouth out
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

Lomax managed the game well maybe has lost a yard of pace but a very clever player , bateman and Farrell did well, Walmsely by far the best ball carrier England has

I think he's the RL equivalent of cricket's Graeme Hick.

Hick was brilliant at county cricket, scored loads of runs and had a great average. England waited expectantly for him to qualify through residency but, when he did, the increaed intensity and quality of bowling at Test level found him out and he struggled.

Farrell does great in SL, and has probably been in the top-5 second rowers for each season he's played, but against Aus & NZ has been dominated almost every tackle because his lack of size sees him pounded.

Although IÂ’d tend to agree I found it interesting to see him highlighted as one of the quickest in the GF despite a recent hamstring tear.
