    Default Man of Steel Awards

Well this is a bit embarrassing, Brian Carney sounding like he's speaking underwater on (judging by the angle he's looking down at) his phone or an iPad. Couple it up with the production budget of a half a snickers and a second hand washing machine and it's all looking horribly amateur.

Even by Rugby League’s standards this is absolutely horrific.

I feel a bit sorry for Brian Carney, all the memes will be about him but he’s not the one to blame for this disaster

When his massive head fills the whole screen it’s very weird

When you look at the money thrown at Rugby Union by BT Sports and all their panellists, and Brian Carney in his spare bedroom with a piece of cardboard behind him, I agree horrific and embarrassing, why couldn't it have been screened, socially distanced from a proper studio or function room at Old Trafford, or failing that just announce the winners instead of this glorified Zoom call

It’s honestly embarassing. The best sport in the world completely neglected by the people in charge, the broadcasters, the sponsors. Basically everyone bar the fans. Shameful.

Well deserved. He’s been superb this year. Can’t argue with it really.

Made up for Welsby winning Young Player of the Year. Also well deserved.

Steve Prescott Man of Steel - Sam Tomkins (Catalans Dragons)

Betfred Coach of the Year - Steve McNamara (Catalans Dragons)

Young Player of the Year - Jack Welsby (St Helens)

Top Try Scorer - Ken Sio (Salford Red Devils)

Top Tackler - Joe Shorrocks (Wigan Warriors)

Loch Lomond Spirit of Super League - Kevin Sinfield MBE

Woman of Steel - Jodie Cunningham (St Helens)

Can’t really argue with any of that when you base it solely on super league.

Never in doubt he's been head and shoulders above everyone else this year. He'll need watching on Saturday.

It seems as though if you win the League Leaders Shield its nailed on for Coach of the Year.

Challenge cup isn’t taken into consideration so on paper Woolf has taken a side from 2nd last season to 2nd this season. McNamara winning is fair enough though it wouldn’t have been a huge upset to see Tony Smith get it.

They don't consider the top piece of silverware in the Superleague Trophy either, I think in the last 5 seasons its been Powell, Wane, Holbrook, Lam, McBanana, might have all been LLS teams.

Actually quite sad about the way it was presented. I don’t like Carney at all and think he’s terrible but this wasn’t his doing. It’s like we try and find new depths to sink to, to look unprofessional and small time.

Winners were fair, Tony Smyth the only one I’d maybe have had in place of the actual winner, though McNamara is a worthy winner, too.

Yeah I felt sorry for Carney. It literally looked like they'd put a sponsor board up in his living room, tossed him an iphone and some earphones and said "crack on pal."

Stopped watching it after 2019 I think it was, when there was booing and a scuffle in the audience. The standard of presentation was never brilliant to start with and has just gone downhill, so not surprised it was poor

Interesting that on three occasions a Lancashire team won the LLS but a Yorkshire team got Coach of the Year but never happened the other way round

It’s almost as is there is a Yorkshire bias there or something
