Despite Wire spending more than all the other teams put together, they've not managed even one player...
Welsby being in there makes me think he’s a shoe in for Young Player of the Year, only discussion is where you put him in the 13. Again most people wouldn’t have had Lomax as the best 6 in super league this year but he picked up quite a lot of MoS points in the first 7 or 8 games of the season.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.
I think Mamo could've taken one of the centre positions when you look at the stats.
Lomax lucky to be in there, I have to say. As others have said too.
From the MOS list, I'd give it to Tomkins. Not as good as he was but he is still good enough to be the best players in SL this year. That's the reality of it.

Looking at the stats for our centres they've got a combined 3 assists between them in SL (Kev and Percival).
I know we've not been that expansive at times but would still expect them to do much better than that.
Not been a good year for centres in general really. Mamo a fair shout but he still isn't great.
Toby King fell off a cliff after his new deal.
Not sure that I agree with you on this. While many think Lomax hasn’t been at his best this season and probably doesn’t deserve his short-listing for MoS, he has still been one of the principal playmakers in a team that has won the Challenge Cup, come second in the league and is still in the play-offs while his defensive work is unsurpassed among half backs in the league. Looking at the other contenders for inclusion in the Dream Team, I am struggling to think of any other contender who has played at such a consistent level in that position for most of the season
Although I would expect more assists than that for our centres you have to look at the style of play. How often do they get decent ball to put their winger away? The majority of the time when we create an overlap we throw the cut out pass to the winger rather than go through the hands.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.
Good point James and I think there's very few specialist centres in the game at the moment. At the highest level of the sport this year (state of origin) both NSW centres were full backs. They're very much seen as strike weapons and so whilst they will look to put their winger away when they can, it's also about them threatening the line too.
I've just had a look at the stats myself now...
Mamo
Tries: 16
Try Assists: 5
Tackle Busts: 75
Metres:2700
Welsby
Tries: 13
Try Assists: 13
Tackle Busts: 48
Metres:1589
Mamo and Welsby of course, see themselves and/or have played as pivots as well. I can't see Percival's or KN's numbers from a quick scan.
It's an interesting one Tabasco... If we compare some of the key stats for a playmaker or a running half, I think they do indicate that he was indeed fortunate. Now I know you've highlighted his defensive work which is great, though really it's what he does ball in hand that's most important I think.
Lomax

I'm not sure Wee Waa, I was thinking it was picked by a panel of journalists & the media perhaps? And you'd think they'd be looking at the stats...
I can see why Sio (top try scorer) & Davies (top metre maker) made it on the wings, I think Maloney is 'top gun'/goal kicker etc.
