He wasn't very good last season either. He was brilliant in 2018 and 2019.

It just goes to show that the system is a complete farce.

I think his posts this year has been very reflective in how his club is performing this year, he seems to be bigging up his players far too much or coming up with excuses when in reality most of the time everything Wigan is way below par. He does respond to the abuse and banter quite well most of the time but some of his replies seem quite odd lately.

You would think Tomkins is the likely winner of MOS. It actually makes a refreshing change that it will be a player that has played well in a good team rather than an average player in a poor team which the current system leans towards.

Welsby you would think is young player. Unless he played too many games last year to be included.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

Being well "ard and working hard and being able to flop on a tackle 20+ times a game does not a future star make.
Back in the day on RLFANS he claimed that Mickey Mac would be England/GBs hooker for the next 10 years after he made his debut for wigan.

I dont think he played once for England

Tomkins won the RL writers award and a merit award for Gernard Guascch. I think the merit award is well deserved the way he has supported his club over the years.

I'd give it to Abdull he's been brilliant all season, and if HKR make the GF the MoS should be nailed on, as would T Smith for coach of the year.

If we get to another Grand Final, it should be our Kristian Woolf for Coach of the year, with Mc Banana in with a shout. Agree about Abdull its a shoot out between him and Tomkins.

As much as I rate Tony Smith, particularly given Hull KR's respective budget, it's worth remembering that for all the entertainment they've provided they only won 50% of their games this season and scraped into the extended play-offs right at the end. Unless it's backed up with a GF win, for me it's nowhere near the level of Watson's Salford in 2019 where expectations were probably even lower.

Hard to see past a McNamara and Tomkins combo tbh. Topped the table, performed consistently well and finally seem to have turned a corner with their away form, scoring considerably more points than anyone else in the process.

If Sam Tomkins doesn't win man of steel it'll be the biggest injustice in that award since 2007 when a load of ••••••ed up journalists decided they didn't want an aussie to win it!!!

Grow up, every time your Aussie mercenary played against us, he got his arse handed to him, he was great against the lower teams but did nothing against us at all. You will be saying that Shorrocks is world class next

He should 99% win it, but if Abdull gets MOM to beat Catalans tomorrow then it could go to the Hull KR man by a midges ball.

The biggest injustice is that Roby has only won it the once…..

Victory by Proxy is all you Goons have to grasp at, hoping that you can take some reflected glory if your ex-player wins MOS…..

Roby won it that year, the bigger injustice is that its his only win, arguably he should have half a dozen.

The most consistently good player for probably 15 years.
