Not too sure, might have had the odd game i think he played mostly loose forward and Paul Groves was our no 9. I think its remarkable the no of 9's we,ve brought through the ranks.

Really good point about overseas number 9s at saints. I don’t think we have ever had one. Rolling back the years, Roby, Higham, Cunningham, Dwyer, Paul Groves, Mark Lee, graham Liptrot now we are back in the 70s. This could be a first ??

Dagnall, Sayer and Karalius in the 60's, according to Wiki our Tony Karalius was of Lithunain origins.

I hope Joey Lussick stops calling Robes by the name James it doesn't sound right.

His passing from Dummy Half has looked crisp, accurate & fast on the whole when I've watched him for Parra. Not seen him run from DH much though.

Good fact that, I can't recall us having an overseas hooker in my years of watching the club, must be the only position, 're Karalius obviously from a very famous Widnes family, not quite overseas, not even over river!..Bill Sayer was from over the lump!Wigan fans grudgingly remarking about us having a pot of money like Warrington, possibly not having to pay rent might have something to do with it, as we have got the ground as collateral for loans, but then again there are drawbacks, we've got to pay for our own carpets

I don't think we've signed an overseas no 9 in my time watching the club.

    Is he our first ever?

The earliest hooker I remember is Liptrot and we haven't had one since him...

Great signing. However he has a lot to live up to. It could be an impossible job. Despite him being a good signing he may be the most likely to fail.

I can see him working as relief for Roby but the big test will be in 2023 when he get the 9 shirt.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

Lance Hohaia played a quite a few games at 9 for us….but obviously he wasn’t signed as a hooker.

Having the dummy half threat of Lussick in the opposition 20m is only going to create more space for our other pivots. Lussick is in his prime now and added to the experience of Roby & Lomax and the potential of Dodd & Welsby along with a three quarter line full of strike and a good pack we are going to be a force to be reckoned with.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

I can see him being better in effectiveness than what Roby is now but won't be capable of reaching a Roby at his prime best. He should be in the superleague top 3 next season it all depends how many minutes he gets, I'm hoping we use 2 hookers in the game to great effect that we did all those years ago in the Cunningham era.

12 tries and 13 assists in 2019 when playing for a "winning" side.

If he does that for us every year I'd be more than happy. He'll never be near "peak" Roby but I'm pretty certain he'll be better than Roby is now.

For context to the earlier stats Roby has 4 assists and no tries this year. Obviously they're different players/styles but if he brings another 15/20 try involvements to us next year we won't be in a bad place...

We regularly find ourselves on the opposition line, Lussick should have a field day tries wise.

Top marks on the 'missing the point' scoreboard, cocker.

Wouldn't you agree we need more from a hooker than just scoring the odd barge-over from dummy half on the opposition line? Things like making breaks from DH in general play, backing-up breaks by other players, sharp passing to teammates, etc?
