That's what my guesswork came up with too. Risky from a two weeks rest POV

Has Nisbet left the club or is he injured? I would have thought he was an obvious one to include in the squad for a game like this, and he would personally want to rigth the wrongs of last year?

    Welsby
    Simm Martyn Davies Grace
    Lomax Dodd
    Amor Smith Lees
    Thompson Royle
    Wingfield

    Pemberton Sumner Norman LMS

If were going to do it, we should at least wrap Walmsley up in cotton wool, to avoid him playing the playoffs on one leg again. Assume Simm will defend at centre and attack on the wing, as the first carries are so important.

Interesting to get our first look at the Welsby/ Lomax/ Dodd trio and get some insight into next year, as well as finally see some game time from Norman and what hes about.

Got to say I'm surprised he's resting so many, but if he's going to rest that many, you may aswell rest them all and keep them fresh for the Play Off game.

Some players respond better to a few weeks off than others. I’m not keen on so many players going into a semi after a 3 week break but just gotta trust the coaching staff know how to manage the players.

    Full strength would be...

    18. Jack Welsby,

    31. Jonathan Bennison,
    29. Ben Davies
    22. Josh Simm
    5. Regan Grace,
    6. Jonny Lomax,
    21. Lewis Dodd,

    8. Alex Walmsley,
    19, Aaron Smith,
    16. Kyle Amor,
    15. LMS,
    11. Joel Thompson
    23, Jake Wingfield,

    24, Josh Eaves,
    25, Dan Norman,
    30. Sam Royle,
    10. Matty Lees,

    32. Shay Martyn,
    33. Taylor Pemberton,
    34. Reece Sumner.

However given the players left. Martyn for either Grace or Welsby is a clear swap. Also naming 5 props is a give away Walmsley will be rested.

    A more likely team is...

    18. Jack Welsby,

    31. Jonathan Bennison,
    29. Ben Davies
    22. Josh Simm
    32. Shay Martyn,
    6. Jonny Lomax,
    21. Lewis Dodd,

    10. Matty Lees,
    19, Aaron Smith,
    16. Kyle Amor,
    15. LMS,
    11. Joel Thompson
    23, Jake Wingfield,

    24, Josh Eaves,
    25, Dan Norman,
    30. Sam Royle,
    33. Taylor Pemberton

    34. Reece Sumner.
    5. Regan Grace,
    8. Walmsley
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

Do you know if he's highly rated? I hope he's a chip off the old block ... his dad is probably in my top 3 all time favourite players.

I'll be interested to see how Welsby and Dodd shape up in a less strong than usual Saints side, especially if Walmsley doesn't play or is given fewer minutes. As we know, it's far easier to play well in a good side than in an average one. Blaspheming for a moment, would Harry Smith have done better this season in a Saints side rather than in a very average pie one, and vice versa with, say, Welsby? Really great players do as well in adversity as when things go well. (I'm inclined to think that Welsby is the type of player to do well in any situation, though with me delusion is never far away).

Completely different type of player. Tommy was just one of them instinct players.

I think your guesswork will be spot on, bar Bennison for Martyn.

After seeing Woolf's presser it would look that way

Yeah he spoke about him in some detail which suggests he will make the cut.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see Walmsley not make the 17.

When it came to rugby he lacked in a couple of areas, but not between the ears. One of the cleverest Stand Offs I have seen.

So pleased to see no less than 4 former Thatto Heath Crusaders actually named in the squad for Friday's game.

I have watched the young lads quite a few times this season. He is a project ATM. I would be surprised if he plays Friday.

Walmsley should go no where near the Ellison's coach never mind the trip to Salford.
