Default Tommo on the move ???

NRL tonight reporting Luke Thompson being shopped around by his agent he wants an extension at the bulldogs but they can’t commit because of salary cap restrictions so they could give him an early release for him to move on .Must have had enough of the wooden spoon plus he’s on $850,000 per yr

You can't blame him. The Bulldogs move was surely to get him into the shop window. If he can get a better contract at a better club who could blame him.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

I’d be surprised by this, form what I’ve seen on social media by their fans he has been there best player. Not only this but by all accounts they are building a very good team for next year?

See what happens but one things for sure is he ain’t coming back to us

Maybe Warrington on £6 million a year?

I can’t say I enjoy all the player movement in the NRL and hope super league never gets like that.
Thompson has been one of Canterbury’s best players all year.

Canterbury are spending big next year and I would have liked to have seen Thompson part of a rebuild team with Addo-Carr, Burton, Dufty, TPJ, Vaughan. Although they might still be sh*t with Barrett in charge.

It’s either poor cap management by Bulldogs signing loose cannons like Vaughan, TPJ which doesn’t leave sufficient room for Thompson or greed by Thompson’s agent with him already playing under contract. Yes it’s a short career and they have to get what they can but there’s just no loyalty in the NRL and as a fan that isn’t enjoyable.

He’s had a good year in a terrible side and if I were a Dogs fan, I wouldn’t be keen on Vaughan coming in at all, let alone him coming in and Thompson going out. He’d get a decent contract elsewhere in the NRL and I think most clubs would take him.

Every Saints fans nightmare if Luke came back and signed for someone else?? We'd be gutted.

$850K is a lot of coin for a prop.

Top clubs like Melbourne spend that kind of money on the spine but not on props.

He has done well in the NRL bar a couple of bans. There will be plenty of suitors.
Maybe not at $850K but on significant money. Too significant for SL.

Hope he continues to go well.

He would have to take a big hit on wages if he came home the equivalent of roughly £450,000 per year but said that his family aren’t short of a few Bob so never say never personally I think he’ll stay in the NRL

    $850000 AuD = £448,415.99 or over 1/2 of Leigh's allocation for 2021.

I can't see him coming back for rugby or financial reasons.

Love to see him back with the right attitude, but he left us before the end of his contract and now he may be doing the same again. Could be a co-incidence, but maybe a pattern developing.

Depends on the prop, top class props that get a team going are worth a lot of money. Vaughan was on $750k at St.George and he isn't as good

I don’t know - look at what the club has achieved since he’s left - back to back SL and a Challenge Cup - as a Saints fan as Thompson is, it might be hard missing out on those wins? It is competitive between the number of trophies we have won since he left and the number of games Bulldogs have won!

If McManus/ Coleman are willing to speculate 450k for Thompson could spur far more back into the stadium (I mean the went on holiday for the pandemic marketing writes itself!) but obviously that’s not my money to gamble with. I think they know it’s important to get some excitement in the fans for next season though.

    All pointless speculation I’m sure

He would be one player that I would welcome back, we should throw everything we can at him to bring him home

Rest assured warrington wigan and leeds will try to do so, surely the smart money says he goes to another NRL club though?

He’s 2 full years left on his contract after this one. It’s his agent trying to get him more money. On the slim chance he ends up leaving the Bulldogs it will be for more money at another NRL club. There is zero chance of him coming back to super league.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

Ok, let's see what happens then. Gives us plenty of time for speculation if nothing else.
