Default Cas propose 8 man “Lightning Rugby”

    For the reserves in 2022.

At first, I was dead against it but we’re not a cash rich sport at the best of times, so big squads aren’t particularly smart at the minute and small sided games gets some form of match fitness into promising players with them possibly able to play for a Championship club on loan at weekends, to get game time in a proper matchday environment.

Not sure I see the logic, we already have a small sided format of the game, 9s. Why not just use that? Seems like a bit of a cost cutting exercise at a time when we're supposed to be trying to increase the value of the sport. Doesn't add much value being tucked away on a Wednesday night as a training exercise.

Not sure if its a good idea, most of the reserves are expected to be involved in the first team squad developing the structure and plays with the regular players to develop their skills.. They are not going to do that if they have to have to play a different brand of rugby.

Cas being cheap as •••• as per usual and not wanting to have to pay a reserve team. Other than that it’s just a stupid gimmick and another shitty idea.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

If it's as bad as the Rugby Union 7's, no thanks.
