McManus isn't a tantrum-throwing spoilt baby like Chris Caisley. And even if he were, we're really not the club to have any influence over the RL authorities.

Have any other clubs in the SL era been fined for fielding a weakened team?

Matautia has been given a two game ban and will miss the final

    Great news!

Surely this means that Thompson is a shoe-in then?

Not sure why it's great news

Ffs! Exactly what we didn’t need.
Looks like Thompson and Batchelor will be our second rows.

Start LMS at prop however maybe needed at second row in his second spell.

Gutted for him, was just getting into his stride as well, as already mentioned LMS can do a spell at second row in the second half. Or maybe use Lees as second row on the edges, instead of doing hard yards down the middle.

    Line up will now likely change to;

    1. Coote
    2. Makinson
    3. Naiqama
    4. Percival
    5. Grace
    6. Lomax
    7. Fages
    8. Walmsley
    9. Roby
    10. LMS
    11. Thompson
    12. Batchelor
    13. Knowles

    Bench: Welsby, Paasi, Lees, Amor

Weak spot clearly in our second row where Cas usually seem to do pretty well. Still confident we have more than enough to beat them.

Gutted for him. He had his best game last week. And he will miss his match up with his brother. Makes it more of an even contest now.

One thing Thompson is more likely to do than not is block one of the channels up out wide

Really bad news that - leaves us with a very tame back row, probably the least dangerous I can recall us naming in a final.

Unfortunately, with the amount of extreme opinions on players etc. it's sometimes very hard to tell on this forum when people are being sarcastic, or if they just hate somebody!

Another option is Welsby to attacking loose forward, Knowles to second row with Dodd on the bench for when gaps open up later in the game.

Maybe we should have played half a team or not bothered playing like the rest of the jokers in Super League. Reading the RFL meeting minutes one of the tackles was just reckless.

Think I would prefer that than second rows of Thomson and Bachelor - too slow in my opinion - and you need some pace against Cas.

It’s an option but Knowles does his best work in the middle for me, he’s wasted outwide.

It's a joke mate, it's just a challenge on the kicker that wasn't even a penalty! Not even high! Or late! Just "reckless about the outcome", weren't even a big hit! Unbelievable

Agreed. Moving Welsby to 13 and Knowles to second row weakens us in two positions rather than just one.

I’m pretty shocked by this. Matautia was getting stuck in but I don’t remember anything ban-worthy.

Bit of a nightmare for us that. No attacking threat in our back row now. Just seen the two incidents aswell and both very harsh bans IMO.

Have seen both tackles as well and I can’t really complain. It may well be a shoulder to the head on the tackle on the kicker, which is hard to see without a zoom and a better camera altogether and the second one is a little harsh but I’ve seen them given before.

Shame because he’s actually started to settle and look a decent acquisition now but that’s life.

Very harsh to ban a player for a final when he wasn't even sent off

    Is he allowed to appeal?

Is it worth an appeal? Unlikely to overturn both and might extended.

So let me put this into perspective…

Cas change 75% of their team to likely none playing members the week before Wembley thus throwing the game so to speak against Salford who were struggling to pick a team and loaned a few in (two of our own to pick a team against them). Putting the games reputation at risk, maybe. Cheating, likely. Unsporting, almost certainly. They now have a full team to choose in the final with seemingly no retribution.

Saints play virtually a full squad resting only 2 players. We struggle to beat Wakefield away from home but never the less win anyway. We cop a two match ban for our only first choice fully fit back rower meaning he misses the same final. A punishment dished out by the RFL.

You literally couldn’t write it, the RFL is a pathetic spineless waste of space.

No point having a referee anymore, just review every game on the following week.
