    Coote
    Makinson Naiqama Percival Grace
    Lomax Dodd
    Walmsley Roby LMS
    Mata’utia Batchelor
    Knowles

    Fages Welsby Lees Paasi

Would be my preference - I’m not sure if Fages is 100% so coming off the bench can cover either halfback or hooker. I’m not really sure what role Welsby has been playing but it’s worked. Perhaps harsh on Amor as he has been good so far this season but his last few games have dropped off. Thompson didn’t really do enough to make the big game in my opinion.

    This team exactly

Batchelor has proved he should be ahead of thompson on form and deserves the chance to start in the final. Lees from the bench again . Welaby on bench to cover LF and knowles to HK

Also i dont feel thompson has done much apart from defence to merit a spot in the 17
Dodd. The 1 time he touched the ball he looked good but for a final sorry but hes not got experiance

I think Batchelor will get the nod over Amor for the last sub spot.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but I thought the other day..
1966 England football team appear in a major final at Wembley and Saints win the Challenge Cup.

2021 (albeit should have 2020) a win tomorrow and the repeat is on.

It's Coming Home.. The Challenge Cup I mean obviously

Agree Dave - only an idiot or NRL suck up would choose Thompson. He has been the Bryan Henare of the 2020s. The team selected should be what we go for.

    Agree.

But we all know he'll start in the second row.

I think Lees will be in the 17, and Welsby on the bench (meaning Dodd won't be). That just leaves the question of which of Amor and Batchelor gets the final bench spot.

    I think he'll go:

    Coote
    Makinson
    Naiqama
    Percival
    Grace
    Lomax
    Fages
    Walmsley
    Roby
    Scarsbrook
    Mata'utia
    Thompson
    Knowles

    Welsby
    Paasi
    Lees
    Batchelor

I think Batchelor can do anything Amor can do at prop, and is probably better than him in any other position.

Not wishing to choose between the two, but Amor will have the old headed experience that Batchelor doesn't.

Batchelor will only get better the more game time he gets. He deserves to be in the 17 every week.

    Batchelor has to start.
    He has earned his spot.

That leaves Thompson / Amor for the last bench spot.
of those two it would be Amor on form.

Just watched the Wakey game. I thought Batchelor was as good as any forward on the field.

That may be Woolfs thinking, but I wouldn't be disappointed to see Batchelor get a starting spot in the SR.

Playing lees who according to Woolf hasn't done much running, on a pitch like Wembley is not on. You need fully fit players on what is always a draining day on players.

Amor has not got the legs for a Wembley game he won’t be able to keep up with the pace.

agree re Thompson. Given he is going home I don't want to see him in a Saints shirt again.

If that’s a reference to Dewi Sant, he joined to sign Gray’s letter and, I suppose, like a lot of others had been content to read the forum for quite a while. His points are perfectly valid and others are entitled to express a contrary view. He certainly hasn’t started to post to cause mischief.

We have relied on a compressed defence, however, and it could backfire at Wembley, especially as the officials may have an eye on edge players running into offside positions to close down the opposition three quarter line. I’m sure though that Woolf thinks about these things more than any of us.

Agreed, this would be the team for me, however who knows with Woolf.

    A bit harsh.

The fact he is going is irrelevant IMO.

    The fact
he was not the type of player needed ,
has underperformed in his woolfball role
and has stated his body is now shot for top flight footy
    is very relevant.

A good player in the NRL in his time and much loved at Manly
but never should have been signed.

Big fan of Batchelor less so of Amor.
However if either of them are gazumped by Thompson
they have every right to feel hard-done-by.

Thompson has self confessed his body is not up to it anymore and Batchelor has got the better form and is more effective, so its the latter for me.

If there is the slightest doubt over Lees fitness then its Amor for me. Wembley always seems to find people out when players have not fully recovered from an injury.

To be fair, you may not agree with his style of play - however since the infamous Huddersfield defeat last march his squad selections have been fair and consistent. He's been happy to drop players to the bench and move players around if players are playing well

Castleford playing a much weakened team against Salford - an interesting choice given they’ve had so many games postponed recently.

Powell is putting all his eggs in the Challenge Cup basket. He’s paranoid about injuries and Covid. The players have taken their kids out of school and their wives are working from home to try and limit any spread.

Salford piling on the points now, can’t see Cas making the play offs if they lose any more games.
