I can understand why he would find it hard to settle in the country under the present circumstances, and it might have been better to just leave it at that. Walk around town these days and it's no wonder players start to yearn to go back home.

Either way, he's no loss, but now we have room for two second-rowers next season. If we could sign ones that can actually run and pass then that would be nice.
    Do we need two ?

Or do we go and buy one and have the other spot for the academy/fringe players to scrap for and grow into?

Bit like when Bentley himself came through. He forced himself through the third second rowers spot to first team.

Saints do need to go to market for one second rower.
To keep Saddened happy (if that's not a contradiction) in the lack of suggestions from the board.

    Rhyse martin or Samisoni Langi.

Ok Dos . Throw a name or two in for consideration.

In answer to your Batchelor question I would look to have him start in games now and have Thompson as a bench / fill in if he is still needed.

Harvey Livett? Expecting to be shot down in flames, but I've always thought he has potential. Tony Smith could bring him across when we sign him up.

I know what you mean Harry.

He's not OOC this year , 2 year deal with Salford. I couldn't understand why Saints didn't go for him last year.
    I rate Livett.

I don't actually know if we've got anybody that could be promoted. Maybe Morgan Knowles could play at second row with Wingfield at loose, seeing as Knowles isn't allowed to pass it anymore.

I can't see many players from Super League other than those mentioned who can fit the bill. Livett could be a decent shout as well as the two you mention here. I dare say we will be scouring the NRL for cast-offs again.

I would think so, he looked average when he had the odd game, think he looks a lot better with having 3 consecutive games, with having played centre he should be comfortable as a forward on the edges.

Another option, sign up a big prop and try Matty Lees at second row, he should break the line with his speed off the mark.

Who made the terrible decision to offload Peyroux?

I couldn’t understand getting rid of Peyroux. He went from being crap to a decent attacking back rower. I’m sure he had a couple of seasons left in him.

He's was ok but in his last year couldn't see past a right foot step inside and no service to the right.

I never understood why we let Josh Jones go other than the money from Exeter.

Would have had him back as a second row rather than him going to Salford.

I think Saints are at a bit of a crossroads. When players leave its not always a question of getting rid of or not wanting them, sometimes the player wants to go, and who can blame them having gotten a grand final.winners medal.

A lot of thought needs to go.into.where we go from here. As o have said on another thread. Thompson has looked anonymous since he joined and the other signings have not consistently shone.

It will be interesting to see where we go frome here. Glad i don't have to.make the decisions.!

    Good point.

Lucky for Mike Rush he has dozens of experts at his disposal on RedVee who can tell him who he should sign and who he should can.

Pity he couldn't have decided this last week - we might've been able to keep hold of Bentley

Does anyone know how Peyroux is performing this season in a lower division?

Played 3 games out of 6 and scored 3 tries.

I would suspect that the club would’ve been aware of his situation weeks ago. He’s announced it now due to the Australian press getting hold of the news.

So he admits he's knackered and homesick, it is the general opinion that he offers very little so why not release him now and try and bring someone in. Be beneficial to both player and club.

Feel for the bloke; cannot be easy to do, admit it's over. My worry is that if he feels his body cannot cope, how will he cope with the rest of the season?

I'd be massively shocked if the club is negotiating his release.

But if he feels he can still offer something this season he isn’t going to immediately retire and give up half a season’s salary whether the fans or even the club wanted him to.

I wonder if that would be the case if Saints had got knocked out in the CC Semi ?

The like of Batchelor should jump ahead of him in the packing order.

Maybe a bench spot if we are really short and his injuries subside.

If he is physically in the shape he was against Wire
and this won't improve then there's an argument to say he shouldn't be in the 17.
