This is mostly about football pitches, but includes stuff about the Wembley pitch as a surface for rugby. It’s a fascinating read. I didn’t know anything about the UK’s dominance in groundskeeping, nor about the importance of Myerscough College in training keepers.

I’ve played golf at Myerscough - it a 9 holer and all the greens have different types of grass on them. Bunkers spring up overnight if it’s been “bunker making” day!! Cracking article thanks very much.

That is a good read. Normally I’d skip or skim such a long article but I read it all. It makes me wonder how many background skills/technologies/sciences sport relies on? All the background staff we barely think about. I’d also like to know which St Helens Primary School has called in one of the leading experts for its playing fields?

Having said that, I miss watching players play in quagmires so bad you can’t tell one team from another .
