Not much to discuss, I think those are the best players we have in those positions

I had forgot about Williams. Shoe in with his Wigan connection too I guess

    1. Tomkins
    6. Lomax
    7. Williams

The above is absolutely nailed on.

9 is a trickier one with Hodgson, Roby, Clark and McShane all in contention. I’d personally start Roby and have Clark off the bench but I think Hodgson will play.

Hodgson must have a video on someone, because whenever ive seen him play i see nothing more than an average player with slow distribution, not a patch on Roby or Clarke.

I’d certainly prefer those two as well but I just have a little niggling feeling that his standing within the NRL will carry some weight. Not that Wane is the type to be easily led and if any coach is going to be single minded and pick his own team based on nothing other than form/performance it’ll be him.

Robes is the best 9 around still
Truman looked promising but what I have seen of Williams since he went down under he's really flourished so I'd see him first choice in the halves and Johnny will also have a shout there.
Can't argue with Tomkins at 1 no brainer really.

I am not convinced by tomkins under the high ball and defensively.

He's quality though. I hate saying it is but he is. Ratchford fullback it is

I'd go with your selection, but won't be surprised if McShane gets in.

    I agree about Hodgson.
Anyone but him would be my choice, he just doesnt fit for England.. How he is so highly rated i must be missing something.

I think the thread was brought about by Wane being on the BBC coverage and talking about the England squad,so it's a valid thread. How about if you don't like a thread then don't reply to it and let the people who do want to talk about it to get on with it ?

I got the feeling that Wane won’t pick McShane as he believes he is too much of an off-the-cuff player that wouldn’t be able to get away with his style at international level. Sadly, this leaves me to conclude that Wane’s desire for structured, error-free rugby will see Hodgson selected, supported by either Roby or Clark.

The thread is legitimate for the reasons given. Wane was on the BBC yesterday and was being asked about these very things and gave some answers that gave heavy clues to his thinking. No need for the aggro please.

No problem about McShane not being selected, but I hope you are wrong about Hodgson.

I actually found Wane and Wilkinson quite entertaining yesterday. Waits to be shot down in flames.

For my part, I’d prefer to see Hardaker at full back in an England squad rather than Tompkins. Again waits to be shot down in flames. I don’t think for one moment that Wane will pick him though.

The BBC has limited time compared to Sky but IMO they use that time more effectively. The forum chat at the end of the two games with Wilkin, Kear and Wane was something Sky would never bother doing, and whilst I didn’t agree with everything Peacock said for example in our game the level of commentary, half time and full time analysis was just better across the board, and Cunningham brings something different to the show and plays her part well also. Overall I continue to enjoy Challenge Cup days on BBC far more than any Super League presentation on Sky. If we had this type of coverage every week in a 60 minute Saturday afternoon SL highlights show on BBC1 or BBC2 with the likes of Peacock, Wilkin, Kear, Cunningham etc we’d be doing a lot better as a sport IMO,

Williams is head and shoulders above any 7 in the SL competition.

    Tomkins
    Lomax
    Williams
Roby with Hodgson coming off the bench

    Would be my guess.

Agreed. I thought Peacock was very good yesterday. Didn't feel the need to shout and scream or be controversial for the sake of it. Just gave a good insight as if he was having a chat with you in your living room watching it

On the topic itself. I think Hodgson always thinks he's Mr Big because he plays in the NRL. Never seen him do anything of note.

    Tomkins
    Lomax
    Williams
Roby and Clark doing spells around each other

He's not as much as a liability than he use to be offers a lot more in attack though.Williams + Lomax could be a good experienced pairing. The No 9 spot is a bit more difficult, Hodgson is too slow for me on his distribution, not too bothered if Roby doen't get to play we can't afford to lose him from a club point of view.
