In reality, though, it counts for little at the moment. It doesn't bother me where we play it, although it would grate somewhat if Headingley was chosen when our own stadium has been one of the designated venues since August.

I have to say, the Cup is my priority this year. We've won two Grand Finals on the spin and my personal need for a third has now been eclipsed by the need to win the Cup after 13 long years. It's far too long for a club of our stature and a monkey that we need to get off our backs.
It would be nice to win the CC. But personally i would take a 3rd GF win on the bounce over a CC win. Winning the CC is what 3 or 4 games ? Winning a 3rd GF would leave a bigger mark in my opinion.

I agree with you Brook. Winning the CC is glamorous, but winning three back to back to back Grand Finals, that's legendary status.

We might as well win both to really cement this side as one of the best.

Well the BBC seem to think it's at Saints and when have they ever got things rugby league-related wrong?

Something like that, it was an old school cup tie.

Not sure why we need to compare and contrast what we'd rather win. The Cup should be our priority now, because they are knock-out games and just around the corner. There is very little chance of us not being a Top 2 or 3 side this season, and the league games will take care of themselves. This isn't like in football where the Cup could get in the way of league games under FPTP, we can lose 7-8 league games and still coast top 2. I see no reason to treat the Cup as anything other than the priority right now, and when we've won it we then take peaking for the play-offs and winning GF as our priority after it.

I'd like to think my home town club could do us a favour by beating the Pies and avenging the CC s-f defeat in 1984. Unlikely though. In 160 minutes of play this season York have only conceded one try, and have quite a lot of big, but aging, names like Ryan Atkins, Ben Jones-Bishop, Danny Kirmond, Danny Washbrook and Adam Cuthbertson

Understand ours and the Catalans game been selected for TV.

Double header at the TWS, our game will be on 1st at 2.30pm followed by Catalans at same venue.

An argument could be made that Catalans v Wakefield is the least enticing tie of the 8. I'm baffled if the BBC have picked this.

Maybe it’s because of travelling to France?

No doubt they'd likely have to play it here, but still not sure why it would be one of the two 'big' TV games of the eight.

Spot on, agree 100%. Rotate players in the SL games around the CC games; if we lose a couple, it shouldn't derail our top-2 plans.

Hope it is like twenty years ago when we got Wigan & Leeds in the rounds with Bradford in the final on our way to lifting the pot.

Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

I agree it's a boring match up in terms of two mid table SL sides but suppose reality is that should be one of if not the most competitive game of the round or certainly has potential to be. Likelihood is Wigan and Warrington will win with some ease and with no fans there etc. I think it loses that bit of cup "magic" really.

That really is quite damning considering the number of times we must have played them since.

2 grand finals, 2 challenge cup semis, 2 play off semis and 1 challenge cup 5th round match
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.
