Expecting a tough close game tonight, Salford look very decent on paper, plus
all this team speculation not doing my nerves any good.
    COYS. Good luck.

Naiqama plays so I was wrong about that one. Coote definitely out.

    Welsby
    Makinson
    Naiqama
    Percival
    Grace
    Lomax
    Fages
    Walmsley
    Roby
    Lees
    Thompson
    Bentley
    Mata’utia

    Subs: Smith, Paasi, Amor, LMS

Pretty much picked itself with Coote and Knowles out. I’d have gone with Batchelor over Amor on the bench personally but there you go.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

A strong side but it does lack a proper long kicking game.

I expect plenty of high bombs for young Jack tonight.

Not even kicked off and Bill Arthur makes a mistake. 13 MINUTES to show support for the "Tackle it" campaign

We seem to be on the stinky end of the 6 again malarky.

Salford causing us some trouble but we still have a few gears to go through yet.

Some dodgy decisions for and against us but I think 13-0 is a fair score at half time. Keep our discipline in the 2nd half and Salford will give us the field position to close this one out.

We’re missing Coote’s organisational leadership but we look solid.

Impressive stint by Lees, who looks like he’s put on some timber. Paasi looking handy and Bentley his usual self.

I don’t know if he took a knock early but I thought Matautia looked like he was struggling to keep up.

    Overall, solid start.

Really liked the look of Iggy, that’s a blow.

Lomax looks lively which is a positive. Our backs as ever seem so little involved though.

Frustrating that, he’s looked solid so far. Thursday game next week as well which he’ll miss.

If we’re as serious about protecting players as we talk about, that’s a red card. That last angle, almost a face on angle, looks bad and is contact with the head.

I’m not sure about that personally. By definition whenever a player is knocked out there’s contact with the head. Sometimes as a defender you’re just unlucky, and I thought it was one of those.

No scrum half is killing us, every set near their line we look clueless and Lomax is carrying us on his back because Fages offers very little with the ball.

I can't see anything in that tackle, he went for the big hit and got it wrong

Exactly. Pauli has his arm tucked in, doesn’t lead with it at all. Paasi will watch replays of that and realise how awful his tackle technique was. Honestly I’m surprised we don’t see more of those given how many players tackle almost stood upright.

Shoulder first was how that pudding went in. Regardless of Paasi’s positioning, which wasn’t the best, it was direct contact with the head with the shoulder. Given the concussion and dementia research, we claim to be for, we’re not that serious, it seems.

Yep. He has loads of talent but the evidence builds up for me that his future isn’t at full back. He drops about a bomb a game when he plays there.
