Taking advantage of the new short loan system that has replaced dual registration. Be good to see them get game time with no reserves, especially Eaves.

Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.
I like what I’ve seen of Eaves when he’s played, I’m still yet to be convinced in Smith. Hope he goes well.
St Helens Rugby League Football Club
Nathan Peats reportedly signing too.
Leigh are struggling for numbers for the game v Warrington this week and I think a big part of these loan moves today is fulfilling that fixture first and foremost. They’ve got a few knocks plus some self-isolating too. They’ve already pushed the game back 24 hours to help them field a team.
NEVER WRITE OFF THE SAINTS
Eaves looks the more natural of the two up and comings.
I tend to agree I just don't get the hype around Smith.
Nothing to particularly object to but equally nothing to get excited about either.
I think it is make or brake for Danny Walker at Wire this year.
If he doesn't get decent game time then he could be worth a look.
I only see one of Eaves and Smith on the books nexts year and my money would be on Eaves currently.
It's probably more in the backs where we could do with cover, but 'back up' hooker Matty Wildie can play in the halves also, so that's good to get Josh Eaves in.
Thought we're okay in the 2nd row, but maybe not after the weekend's game. To 'sum it up' we have 10 backs, and 14 forwards in our 24 man squad, but we don't know how long Junior Sau will be out injured for.
Hope they go well.
I have really liked Eaves from what I have seen so far, albeit very brief, hope he goes well.
I would prefer to see a reserves competition, but short term loans are probably the best option in the current climate. If we are going to loan players Leigh would be my preferred option. A good chance they will experience SL, not too far to travel etc. Do loan players as previously still get to train with their own clubs x days per week??
There’s a big difference between the contact time playing one game of rugby and that of the training, changing, eating, travelling etc that you do as a playing squad. I’d imagine as the general restrictions are lifted there will be less restrictions for these situations as well.

FT: Warrington 34 Leigh 12
Matty Foster started for us and Josh Eaves was named on the bench. But unlike Saints last week, Warrington only brought one youngster (Thewlis) on to the field in the 2nd half.
Looks like Aaron Smith has the Francis Meli award for 2021.
It is easy to forget a lot of teams play with two hookers. In Robys absence it would make sense for both to play.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.
Irrelevant observation, but the last time I saw John Duffy, he was strapped to a chair about to have his face bitten off by his own starved dogs.
And hasn't Thaler put on some timber round the middle?
Wonder how many games Jai Field is going to finish this year.
That Thornley for Leigh looks decent.
Quick question - a side knocks on in the tackle, an opposition player catches it and passes, but it's a forward pass. What's the right decision?
