“I am excited to be coming back to Rugby League. Just like the money was right for me when I went to Rugby Union, I think the money is right for me to come back to League now.”

    Corrected it for him.

I just hope he gets to play at our place in front of a crowd the horrible little rat.

    Indeed.

He's not going to be on peanuts, so did Leeds suddenly find a big chunk of available salary cap?

Or are they using that ridiculous loophole in the cap rules that idiotically allows a club to remove an injured player's salary from the cap calculation?

Regardless, I hope he's utterly sh*t for them.

What i don't get about that rule is you can only use it before the season starts iirc,so if you get a long term injury 2 or 3 games into the season you are at a huge disadvantage.

Think its the returning player dispensation, he costs 50% this year and 75% next year. I cant stand the egotistical little shite, hes only gone there until he can find someone to pay him more, if a RU side needs a centre he’ll be gone.

Without any emotion or looking at his career here, he’s a 31 year old that hasn’t played since March 2020 and has averaged 14 games a year since 2011, coming back to a sport he hasn’t played for ten years. The signs aren’t exactly positive.

As for him, his attitude stunk and often outweighed his ability and the quality was overshadowed by petulance and sticking his fingers up at Saints fans.

To be fair, he was only about 10 years old then!
I agree with what you say though. He's going to be a little rusty.

Incredible that Leeds fans are happy with this, how the mighty have fallen. 31, hasn’t played league in ten years and is clearly only coming for the money because no union team wants him. Stinks of desperation, the type of signing Wire usually make.

I can understand the negative comments, but at the same time I'm sure everyone is interested to see how he goes!

Sinfield's remarks suggest he will play in the halves and I think he could prove a good foil for Gale/make a good partnership. Eastmond was at his best running the ball. Does he still have that explosive speed though, that is the question? I wish him all the best.

    Regards,

    STEVO

On paper a 1,6,7 of Myler, Eastmond and Gale (with Long coaching them) is top 3 quality.

    On paper
Not sure Gray - Myler is one of the most overated players I've seen, Eastmond did little in his last year at Saints and has a questionable injury record and Gale is cracking on and recovering from a bad injury. It has a bit of a Hull FC feel to it except they are all UK players.
Gale is the best of the 3 by a distance in my book.

Myler had a good year at 1 but I think the combination of Myler, Lui and Gale is better than Myler, Eastmond and Gale myself.

Dislike him intensely after the disrespect he showed to the club and the fans. Hope he crashes and burns, having taken Leeds for a good few bob.
Unfortunately, he couldn't have a better coach than Longy to get him firing again.
"The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom." Danny Blanchflower.
Might have been written by a footballer about football - but never a truer word............

Why are people so revolted by sportspeople chasing money?

Lui is a good shout - I'd forgotton about him. I'd say he is a better player than Myler and Eastmond though the latter could very definitely change that opinion this year. If he does and he goes well surely that's good for our game. Its not like we have many quality British 7's knocking about.

Looking forward to see the Lomax v Eastmond match up, could be enbarrassing for the latter.

Personally I hope JL gives him a lesson... His attitude in that last season and then giving the 'V' when he was called out for his total indifference still rankles. Of course he is 31 now so likely to have matured, but I don't think he will be welcome to LP anytime soon.

I’m not bothered by this. Every job I ever took was an increase in pay, so I don’t begrudge people doing that. I took offence at his attitude and application whilst at the club.

Exactly this. He could'nt care less in his last season.
Would also add that many NRL players seemed like they had a deeper affinity to their clubs when I was over there. I recall the likes of Craig Wing asking George Piggins if he could move clubs when Souths were in a war with News Limited.

He was a young lad when he left us and poorly advised by his agent (who wasn't Offiah) coupled with a crap time at the club when we were af Widnes

I'm sure he's probably a bit older and wiser now, he's already mentioned he's coming back with machurity

It'll be interesting to see how he goes, he's made a career in Union, but not really set it on fire and also seemed to be injured a lot

What was wrong with his application and attitude?

I remember him having some outstanding games. I remember him having some average games. No different to any other player.

In which case your memory is failing you in this instance as his performance at Widnes against Warrington was as poor as I've seen. He literally played like a subbuteo player in that game. Barely did any running from half back and just shifted the ball. It was obvious Offiah was in his head and his subsequent flicking of the V's to people who called out his poor attitude was as equally reprehensible.

I think that he’ll be a lot cheaper than you think. He was let go by Leicester Tigers at the end of the last union season, so quite a few months with no income. No union club wanted him and I doubt that Leeds would have been interested if they hadn’t had the long term injury to Lui.
