I'd name it after a legend of the club like Vol as he presented the matchball on the opening night. Be a nice touch

I'd like to see his name on the North stand.

I'd also quite like to see the away named the Bell end.

I agree with Dave, name stands after legends. Like it or not the stadium sponsorship is a money maker, and we can’t turn our noses up at it unfortunately. But naming stands after legends would be a good touch, because the place is still quite new and has no real history, plus we called the stands N, E, S and W which was not particularly imaginative. Having a Vollenhoven Stand, giving the West a proper name which would then become famous as the ground grew older, etc, that’s what I’d do.

Why would you name a stand after Hardaker?

A great idea, but so many to choose from. You could put it to a supporter vote but that would not be fair on the older greats that most ot todays fans never saw. As I said, not sure of the mechanism for choosing but much better than N.S.E&W

At the time that went right over my head. When people mention bell end and Wigan, I automatically think of Hardaker.

I always remember years ago when Dean Bell left to go to Auckland Warriors, the headline in bold letters on Ceefax was,
    'BELL ENDS STAY WITH WIGAN'
Whoever wrote it definitely knew what they were doing

I think its a great idea. The club got it right with the hall of fame hoardings of all the past great Saints players so this would be a logical step in the right direction.

Its also part of building a brand, it adds weight to the history and credibility of the club. Selling naming rights for a few grand might be attractive in the short term but this is why RL struggles commercially - because it has no idea of building a strong brand image and does'nt realise that inviting tinpot naming rights for threepence just condemns them to the constant hand to mouth living. No credible company is going to want to be partnered with Skip hire, Bills bric-a-brac, Gold & Silver pawn shop etc etc.

The away end, could suitably be called the "Bell End", when Huddersfield Giants are playing us.

Yes you're right Dave. Seen Gray's post in reply to my idea too. Can't turn the money down so stands a better option

They've had and got a fair few to be fair.

Not many of their players I particularly like. Which is how it should be I guess

If you mean the "Lancashire" graphic I found it years ago, online somewhere.
Feel free to spread the word.

If you mean the RH quote, feel free to use that as well.

I'd prefer it if we changed to something classier than the current name, which I dislike

How about "The Crack Den", free crack pipe for every season ticket holder?

It would be nice to have a reputable company sponsoring us. Though right now I would think we just need to go for whoever will pay the most.

I do understand that from the clubs view point money is money. However, consider why companies advertise.

Association is also a big part of advertising, beer adverts have people in groups in hot places so you associate drinking alcohol with being with friends and being on holiday, this is why at the magic weekend when it is hot we bring some mates along and get smashed. Because that is what years on beer adverts has taught us this is the norm. Now we could just as easily get smashed at home or in the pub but advertising has told us that with friend/while hot like a festival is much better for some reason. It makes no sense, if you actually think about it. Smoking advertising or product placement in films is usually done at moments when someone looks cool and confident. Usually after banging a Super Model or shooting the bad guy with an oversized gun. Now we associate smoking with self confidence and looking sexy, while the two have no logical association.

So that being said what does it say for St Helens the Rugby Club as a brand to have these sponsors. What if you were a blue chip company with a healthy or family image to uphold would you want to to have the second degree association?

It is a two way thing, if a Premier League Football team has a household name sponsor it shows what a big deal this team is. Arsenal and PSG among others are sponsored by Emirates, Arab Royalty pay to have their brand on these teams shirts. How important must these clubs be? Equally it is the same the other way around, Chelsea by a Toyo Tire company so they must be a big impressive company rather than just rubber molders. If we were more selective maybe we could enhance our brand and associate better brands in the future.
I could agree with you but then we would both be wrong.

The Star Value Stadium - I know it's closed but it made me laugh.
Well the second one was an unfortunate misread on my part
