    Also inevitable:-

Someone undeserving will win MOS (If the 4th best Hooker in SL wins it, anyone can....)

French/Hastings/Austin/insert alternative will be “Like a breath of fresh air....”

If we win the LLS it’ll be mocked and become unimportant again

Bill Arthur won’t know a heavy muscular Black centre from a fleet footed but slighter-built winger

    Refereeing will be inconsistent

Stuart Pyle STILL won’t have finished these fu$king sweets he’s had in his gob forever

We won’t beat Australia in the World Cup

    Saints will win the treble

Well Rogues we all respect your opinions and knowledge. From 10 year olds throwing a ball about to 55 year old masters players you know it all. I don't think what has just happened can ever be topped it was just so euphoric. 34 guys gave their all and it went to the wire (well it did in 54/55). The fact you said fair play the best team won, gave you some credibility on this board. Well 2014 and now 2020 you maybe owe us one.

Are you saying that Roby didn't deserve it in 2007?

Rogues says on one of the Wigan forums that Leuluai is probably the best defensive hooker he's ever seen, better than Roby and one or two other well regarded ones, may be good at spotting up and coming talent, but not too brilliant at rating them when they've already made the grade, can't recall ever seeing Roby tackling a player off the ball when he's not even expecting it. I would love to know how many tries Roby has scored against Wigan, I remember him running straight through Chris Ashton on one Good Friday, a cup final one, and several from close range acting play the ball ones, there must be a few more

He isnt used to a hooker not being a thug, given the ones they have had.

Or perhaps it's more a strange and bitter comment from an odd man?

Who were the 3 hookers better than him Rogues?

There is certainly an argument that other candidates should have won it ahead of Roby (I think Wellens and Barrett were nominated) and they both had excellent seasons in 2007.

I presume that's what you mean because to suggest that Roby was the 4th best hooker in SL in 2007 is a bit silly. Perhaps a bit bitter.

Reality is no British hooker that's played the game come close to Cunningham and Robes. We're lucky to see 2 outstanding players grace the game at around the same time.

Wigan fans used to rate Terry Newton on a par with Keiron Cunningham. Tells you everything you need to know.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

They loved Newton, because he typified what they are all about, thugs. I used to work with a Wigan supporter in 2005. She talked a lot of sense and i enjoyed talking rugby with her, until our first meeting following the Long-Newton incident of 2005. She came running over ‘hey, Terry got him good didn’t he?’ with a big smile on her face. Disgraceful folk.

Yes, but I also think that Cunningham, Brad Drew and Terry Newton were better that year all round as they played many more minutes than Roby.

Barrett should have won it easily, as the players player of the year, and the RL writers player of the year.

The result of the m.o.s. was so bad that year that they changed the voting system!!!

"Trent, Trent will tear you apart again"

Shame he never quite managed it..... Definition of over rated but at least not like the thugs that you usually shamelessly defend.

Good Friday 2007. It was hilarious when Roby sunk Barret with that dummy and walked over for that try. Sean O’curly sue was looking at Barrett like ‘who the fu** was you marking?’

Agreed. I thought Buderus was great for Leeds but he was only here 3 seasons I think?

Hopefully the result this year ends up changing the voting system for next year, you cant have a bloke who plays for the team that finished 8th being MOS. Lets face it Roby could and quite probably should have been MOS half a dozen times, so while you cant accept him winning in 2007 i cant accept that he has only won it once.

Yes Im sure Woods, Wilson and Hadfield and the rest of the Wigan fans who worked in the media at that time would have loved Barrett to win it. Perhaps we should have asked wanker Dearden for his vote too.

    Try again.
