    Default Luke Thompson

Just read on the Wigan fans site that Thompson has signed for them. Apparently a done deal.

To add context to this, the full post from this particular user was:

"Heard it from match commissioner at the wire v Hull FC game where I wus working we got talking about players and he said wigan av signed luke Thompson and then jenna brooks said same things 20 mins after when she wus talking to my boss

And that it will be acounsed at the end of the season."

    Hardly sounds credible to me.

Warrington signed Graham don’t you know. FWIW I have heard Wigan and Leeds are just trying to run up the offer Saints have given - it’s a matter of Aus or Saints rather than anywhere else. I think people forget this is someone who gave his grandmother address so he didn’t play for the Wigan town teams ...

That reads a lot like the James Graham rumours which Wire fans came out with for years.

Whether it's true or not, it's the very thing we've probably all dreaded since he (allegedly) acrimoniously departed. You can imagine it happening can't you?

There’s absolutely no way on earth Wigan could get French, Hastings, Field, Hardaker, Burgess, Gildart, Farrell AND Thompson under the cap.

If you don't believe they can then you must surely be saying that we spent years cheating in the early 2000s, for that was what people used to say about us all the time with better players than that.

You would have to hope they are both talking rubbish.

If he comes back anywhere it will be to Warrington. They tried to sign him before he went to Australia. They’ll throw money at him.

Can’t see him coming back to us with the way he left.

As I’ve posted before, I can’t see Thompson giving up on the NRL so easily no matter how homesick he may or may not be. It’s just a shame he went to Canterbury, they look shite though a new coach may turn things around.
Forwards win games. The backs decide by how much.

What he wants and what he gets are two different things though. Barrett may not rate him. I can see other NRL clubs willing to give him a chance but they may not offer him what Canterbury did.

I’m sure Gold Coast would jump at the chance!

especially if the Dogs pay a proportion of his wages to get him off their cap.

Wish him well as long as he doesn't go to the Pies.

Yeh i think he’s definitely good enough for the NRL. Its just a question of which club knows how to utilise him best.

    Mercenary?

    Have a day off.

It’s his job. Same way you’d change jobs if someone offered you a boat load of money.

He wasnt wanting to help the club out when they needed him to. Instead he used it to manufacture an early release.

I have no issue with players wanting to better themselves, but you have to show a bit of respect to the club .

    He didnt.

The club has survived without him.

Aye, fair enough. I prefer to think there was more too it than that but I doubt we'll ever know the full story. Sorry for calling you an idiot.

Gold Coast would be the obvious place with Holbrook. Unless he really hates the place "which he might" not everyone takes to Australia. I do then think it will be Leeds if he comes back. Hethrington needs to get Carrick to throw money at something big. I dont think he will ever come back to Saints and not really sure he would fancy Wire, although they could afford him. Wigan need to pay the rent again soon, so need to be careful, that is if Latics new owners want them.
